Hi everyone ~

I am Bajabum and have been coming to the Sea of Cortez for several years thought usually on the San Felipi side.

We have been diving San Pedro for 4 years and this year we are bringing the whole tribe - kids, grandkids - YIKES!

So where would be the best snorkeling for these guys - they are not divers and for the young ones, this is the first time in salt water.  We live in a land locked state with freshwater lakes.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you may offer

Martini Cove is a nice, calm, 15-10' depth location to start out.   Then, once they get some more experience, you could venture out to some deeper, less protected (but still safe) dive/snorkelling sites.

Thanks so much for your reply.

Where is Martini Cove located in relation to the harbor entrance?  I'm not real familiar with the cove names - sorry.  We usually go out on the boats to dive.

Thanks for your help

Martini is boat access.  It is just north outside of the San Carlos Marina.   If you are not going out via boat, go to Frenchie's cove - go out towards lookout point, but before going up the hill, take the dirt road to the left towards the beach.  There is a sandy beach where the kids can play and snorkel.  You can pick up a good map of San Carlos for $5 at most of the shops in town.

i dont now how big are your kids, and how god they are in swimming. but there is one point about Frenchie's cove.
there are some dangerous downdraft when the waves are going back .
some older kids died there last year . some mexican kids (it happend twice) that was not a god swimmer .
saludos and enjoy snorkeling.

The kids are ages 4-7 with two 6 y/o in between.  None of them are strong swimmers so I think we will avoid Frenchies Cove for sure.

Thanks for the Heads-up.

Salud!
