What's the price, per liter, for premium gas these days (Oct. 27)? Want to figure if it's best to fill-up in US or wait for Pemex.

Don't know the prices here(forgot to look last time I was at the pump) but since the price in the US has dropped after the $4 period, I would fill up in Nogales. A week ago, it was less than 2.40 at the Fastrip at the corner of Mariposa and Grand( next to the motel 6.) The price near the border in Mexico tends to be higher than in SC and also there is a much greater chance of them selling you non-standard size gallons. Fill up in Nogales(Az) and then in SC(at the old pemex next to the bank) and you will minimize the ripoffs. Do NOT buy gas in Hermosillo on the main highway and wherever you buy it, do NOT use a $500 peso bill or use a credit card.

Anyway, here in Hermosillo the Pump shows always 15 to 18% more liters than you get.
I fill always a 20 liter Gas-Can for my Motorcycles and i have been to many Gas Station here in Hermosillo and other Towns.
That will be also in other Places in Mexico. Looks like the Politic of Pemex.

| Are you saying that your credit card can be compromised at these locations?

I dont pay gas with Credit Card. But it is not the Emloyee that steels the the money with the Corupt Gas Pump. It is the Owner of the Gas-station.
Cloning risk and doble charging of Credit Cards are everywhere. Not important where you go.

Thanks for the fueling tips. Never have used credit cards but, also, things have changed for the worse since I was last down in San Carlos. Too bad for us. Too bad for the Mexican people, too.

| Things haven't changed. Credit card ripoffs have always been an issue SOB. What has changed is that anglos seem to have forgotten.

I've always used a credit card for gas in San Carlos and never had a problem. I always top off before crossing the border South bound so I don't have to gas up until I get to San Carlos.

$9.57 pesos per liter is the price for Premium (according to PROFECO) in Nogales and Hermosillo/SC. Cananea and Caborca are at 9.18 (zones with 10% IVA).
$7.72 per liter for Magna (7.41 in C & C)
