I am thinking about moving my boat from San Carlos to Costa Rica for a while.  Has anyone ever made this trip?  I would love to talk with someone who has experience in making the journey.  Are there captains that are available to transport the boat?

Talk with Jose Grejeda or George Grejeda, or Abel Anaya (sr). These three guys have a wealth of info. Jose Reyas can get you in touch with them.

Bill Wichrowski ( Alaska Bill ) has made the trip 2 times.

Predator 55' is down there.  Predator 63' has made the trip down and back.

Bill will be back from filming with the Discovery Channel in 6 weeks.  He and Morgan can give you the 1st hand accounts of the journey.

Due to extraordinary wear and tear on the vessel during the voyage and hazards associated with weather, vast open water and potential bad guys, I remember Morgan used Dockwise Yacht Transport (http://www.yacht-transport.com/) to move the 64' Predator back uphill.  The ship will load your boat in La Paz, MX and unload it in Golfito, CR.

Be sure to check on slip fees in CR before you make your decision.  There are only a few marinas on the Pacific coast.  Some are exclusive and all are expensive.
