I was talking to a fellow user yesterday and he didn't know how to change his profile on this board.

Have you noticed how some people who post have their hometown under their name, an image to remember them by, and if you click on their name you can send them an email or take a look at their web site if they have one?

Here's how to do it - in the Upper right of this page click on "My Account".  Then in the group of buttons that shows up in the center, click on the third one from the left, "Profile".

First, make sure that your email address is correct.

Fill in your city and country, and if you want, something about your occupation and interests.

At the bottom of the page is a box that says "Allow others to view my e-mail address".  This really is mislabeled, because if you don't check it, in addition to not seeing your email address, other people cannot send you an email, they can only send you a Private Message.  Your choice.

Avatar - this is the little image that appears under your name.  Look at mine to the left and you see Gizmo, our cocker spaniel.   Click on the 5th button from the left and you can choose from a handful of pre-made avatars or upload one of your own.

Of course, none of this is required, but it does make the board more interesting!

Enjoy,
Greg

All good points.  I moved this thread here because applicable to all users, not just fishing forum.  Because we have multiple inbound links to the forums, some never see this section and it provides answers to many common questions.

I would add to your excellent comments that many of these "how tos" are covered by clicking the help button at the upper right of all screens in the forum.

Thanx again for a great explanation.

Bart
