hello i am new to diving, i have done it twice this year, or at least have tried. First time was in puerto vallarta, it was an ok first dive but thera was a problem, i can seem to be able to keep the regulator in my mouth for more than ten minutes. I had to keep the regulator between my theets and lips with one hand. This situation make me panic, and i ask my guide to take me out. i keep calm and slowly went up to the surface. Second time i tried was in puerto escondio, oaxaca. there the story was the same, but this time my guide was a young woman who did not let me get out, she keep me calm and gave me confidence. we dive for at least 20 minutes... but i kept the regulator between my theets and lips, and hold it with one hand.... now i know this is not the right way to dive, so my question is.- is there a smaller regulator or a direrent kind so when i bite it, i could feel it more confortable in my mouth?

There is a mouthpiece sold at most dive shops that also has a piece of plastic that goes up the roof of your mouth about 1/2 inch. I use this type works great. Or your reg. hose is too short. Practice in a pool to get comfortable also helps.
Good luck

| Yes, there are many different mouthpieces available. You can find one that is comfortable for you and purchase it.

Customizable mouthpieces are also available. They can be heat molded to fit your mouth better. We found them because my wife was having problems with her gums being damaged. But a custom fit would also require less bitiing pressure to stay put.
You really should be able to relax your jaw and have the breather stay put...
