Hi will be in San Carlos Jan 20 for two weeks. I understand La Manga is the best beach or downwind on Algadones beach. Is there good access and location to park vehicle? Any other windsurfers? Jellyfish, are there problems? Condo 1 or 2Br for rent nearby? |

If you're an advanced sailor then the La Manga beach is the place to be. Sometimes you might want to stay a little more on the outside if the wind is light along the beach and the gusts aren't filling in too frequently around the point. Take the first left a half mile down the dirt road past the pavement. You can get to the sand. Bring some shoes as the [url=mailto:star-f@#$@rs]star-f@#$@rs[/url] will make your rigging experience horrible. Some cheap carpet would be great to rig on. I think that Jeff (not you Parker) and I are the last of the dying breed of local windsurfers still representing. Drop me an e-mail if you want some company or need to rent some equipment. I can rent gear out to you, beginners, or novices down by Pilar/Delfin by the estuary if the wind is filling in. The water is warmer and lighter. I can also get you accomodations there. I do have an efficiency for rent in the Bahia, which would probably be your closest one-bedroom unless you go for a house at Costa del Mar. The Paradiso Hotel would work and you could probably leave your gear rigged on the beach and have the guards look after it. You can sail off the Soggy Peso beach on the downwind side of the spit, you will just have to jibe frequently or get caught in a lot of wind shadows. Down the beach it gets better but farther down you sometimes get a lot of confused chop. The lulls are greater in these areas, though your inside jibes can be worth it. Watch out for the inside reef if the tide is low. No jellies or seaweed. Not to add in any unnecessary fear, but I wouldn't want to get stuck too far out. I think the bird activity is usually associated with mackerel and yellowtail, though we just recently caught Humbolt squid just off the outside San Antonio point. FYI, sorry! Sounds like you are on the right track. La Manga is more of an open bay and you will get larger swells than algadones. Good rigging spot @ La Manga is near the arroyo. I think the best lodging for you would be a Costa Del Mar Casita or Paridiso. This way you will know if it is windy or not with out making a daily drive from town. Costa Del Mar rentals can be found through the Re Max property Management, possibly through a link on this website. I have not been windsurfing because I have been the only one at La Manga on 30 knot days with 6-8' swell. To much can go wrong in those conditions alone. Started kiteboarding, but, lately too many kites on the water @ the Soggy Peso. Starting to kite more downwind of the Soggy. Windguru.com is a pretty accurate wind forecast. Enjoy |

I have windsurfed la Manga since 1986 and it is the best. I have sailed it in up to 14 foot waves and 45 knot winds (3.0 M sail) it is safe if something bad happens you will just wash up at paradiso (formerlly clubMed) In front of soggy peso is good but you get lulls and chevron waves making your knees sore kinda like skiing Moguls Have fun  |

Thanks to user's replys. Very helpful. I also saw a picture of a few hobie cat's on the beach, looks like near Paradiso. Are those for rent? We also like sailing cat's and sailboats... |

we, Sonoran Sport Center, have small sail boats for rent, 23 foot ericcson, and the paradiso has 14 foot hobie cats out there |
