Well that's half right but I got your attention. My wife and I are looking for our next boat. We are in the early stages of our search for "the" boat but are not absolutely positive what that is yet. So we want to get on as many boats as possible in the next year or so to see what we like. I sent an e-mail to the brokers in the area being right up front about our intentions and none have responded willing to help us out. I wanted to be honest with them about our time frame, maybe I should have told them what I said in the title of this thread. If anybody knows a broker in the area willing to spend a day with a future buyer please give me their contact info or they can reply here. Thanks, Bill edit to add clarification: Looking for a cruising sailboat, high 30 to low 40 feet in length, cutter or sloop, safe/seakindly over speed. Budget to be determined once we see what boats are really going for. Last edited on Fri Dec 12th, 2008 11:42 am by bmiller |

Contact Tom Johnston at http://www.seaofcortezyachts.biz for info on sailboats or call him at 1-866-492-3812. They show 25 sailboats available with several in your size range. Other brokers like Star Marine & Marine Mart deal primarily in power boats. San Carlos Yachts has suspended operations at this time. Bart |

Tom has a relatively new listing..............a 34 Gemini. Not very common on the West Coast and fewer still come to market. If your wife sees THAT layout, I doubt she will like anything else that isnt at least 10 feet longer. This assumes you are cat friendly............. Please take my wife and I sailing on it if you buy it. |

I tried SOC yachts, no response yet. Don't want to get down there and not be able to see any boats. Guess I can buy in southern CA and sail around. |

Get hold of Tom at Sea of Cortez. I just bought a boat from him. Great service. |

We bought a boat down here year before last. Our experience was that we were able to "see" boats (get on them, look around etc) but the boats were not generally available for sailing w/o an offer. Many times the boats for sale are not in the water but in Marina Seca. I'm sure when you get down here you will find people willing to discuss w/you your sailing experience, cruising desires for Sea of Cortez and suggest possible boats that would work for you. |

We finally got a reply from Sea of Cortez Yachts. They will be available to show some boats. Thanks, Bill |

Hola Bmiller, Would you be interested in a beautiful 42' wooden ketch? Currently in El Salvador but will be sailing it back to San Carlos, leaving here in March |

42' works, ketch maybe, wood hull thanks anyway. I don't have enough time to due a boat like that justice. I'm sure it's beautiful to look at and sail though. |

bmiller I have a friend with a nice solid cruising sailboat for sale. Currently in La Paz but will probably be sailed to San Carlos sometime in June. It's a Rafiki 38 fiberglass cutter, well equipped to sail anywhere, and priced right. If you send me your email I can forward you some photos of the boat ( my friend is not very computer-savy). It's very pretty, traditional and seaworthy as they come. Owner is in US, San Francisco area. John S |
