Does anyone know the days and hours of the Truck/border crossing into Mexico and out of Mexico? I believe it closes at 10pm, however I just read somewhere it was closed on Sunday..
When we came through in June we had to go through downtown Nogalas, we barely fit through the US BP stalls. We went through there because we ran late (11pm)

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The commercial port for semis hauling goods is closed on Sunday.  The auto/personal traffic side of the port is open every day from 6am to 10pm.

Thanks Bart....
Our next trip we are returning on Sunday and last time we literally had 1/2 inch on either side of our F350 (towing a mid cabin SeaRay)
I held my breath the way through
I think the BP thought we were going to get stuck...
At least this time we will know we can make it :o)

You should have no problem with that rig going thru the Mariposa road port.  At one time, they had a height restriction on Sundays.  Can anybody tell us if that is still in effect?  Been forever since I've traveled either way on Sunday.

No, Mariposa is the commercial crossing west of downtown.  Downtown is the Deconcini crossing.

The restriction was a height restriction, not width.  The truck is not the problem, but the boat might be-are you towing the boat back?

There is no height restriction if you stay on the toll road right to the border. There is a low overpass at Mariposa if you use the bypass through town to get to the border - I think it is 4 meters, but I'll try to look tomorrow when I come that way.

Craig, we are going back tomorrow morning and usually take the toll route to Mariposa. Since we can't tell online whether the town bypass to Mariposa or the toll route is faster, it's hard to tell which way to go ahead of time. Have you been going the town bypass when you go? Thanks!

Last week I took the toll road straight in for a 40 minute wait on Monday morning. There are no big blockades of produce trucks right now, so it is a pretty safe bet that the toll road is fastest. I have only seen DeConcini with a shorter wait two or three times in the last week. I was told the Mexican schools started back today, so that may explain why the waits have only been 15-20 minutes all day - they have been running 40-55 minutes for several weeks (back to school shopping).

I just returned from the bypass (through town instead of the toll road) and the sign on the overpass says "3 Meters". I'd swear it is taller, but that's what it says.

Master 98,

You shoulda' been there today! All day the lines have shown from 2 minutes to 20 minutes - when I came back at 12:00, there were 8 cars TOTAL at Mariposa!

We came back yesterday (Tuesday) and did the tollroad direct to Mariposa. We hit the line at 12:05 and waited about 30 minutes. But it could have been 15 minutes if we hadn't gotten behind a slow group of cars and a possible lunch shift change. It seemed like the cutoff from town to Mariposa was about the same so we saved 10 minutes by paying the toll. Overall not bad!

I got stuck in the downtown Deconcini crossing once in an F350 with a Lance camper on the back and saw the warnings, including some stringy material hanging over the lanes to show you the highest you could be. I am 11-6 high and was considerably higher than that stuff but I had clearance downtown. Not even that close.

When went through we barely made it because of the width. We had to bend in the mirrors, the BP agents were just waiting for us so hit.... The F350 we have is a dually so I think that's why oh, my husband said the boat trailer was tight coming through. The boat height wasn't even an issue even though it's a very deep V, that made it with no problem....

I feel for you..we tow out 29' Grady with a 9'6" beam behind our F250..we go yearly and launch out of san carlos then cruise to dive (we have a compressor) and fish for a month...usually all the way to La Paz before heading back.

In 2006 (our first trip with a group) the group leader took all of us towing boats thru the town of Nogales. The person following us with a skip jack ended up taking done mulitble phone lines and finally a electical line that landed on the hood of a police car with 2 cops inside (they were less than happy) It delayed his trip by 8 hours and cost him $2,000 cash before he could leave.

We tow from Monterey, CA and plan on at least a 3 day tow down..We always spend the night before crossing the border in AZ and then cross at 6am when the border opens using the toll commercial crossing/mariposa...we plan our trip back the same way too be able to cross at Nogales and to use all the truck by passes to NEVER go thru the center of towns....Last June the highway had areas of constuction but it was better travel than going down US 10 out of tusan with construction.
