Just wanted to issue a shark warning..we were fishing at the island last Saturday and hooked-up with what appeared to be a large Tiger shark, possible 10-12' long. It was at the east end in shallow water...ate a large skiojack we were using. Actually jumped out of the water twice, so we could see it clearly. |

San Pedro Island? What luck, that would have been something to see, how long was he on the line before it broke? |

No pics, we were caught totally off guard...took us a few moments to realize what we saw. Only one of us saw the first jump, which displayed his dorsal side w/stripes, then we all saw the 2nd w/totally white underbelly, including large pectoral fins. Made a splash like a piano hitting the water! |

I know what you mean by being caught off guard. One time we were on our way out to the island and ran across orca's. The orca's swam right beside and behind the boat. When this started I was in shock and could not think to get my camera. After about a minute i remembered I had my underwater camera. Needless to say, I now take my underwater camera and a camera to shoot topside with. I am trying my best to not be caught off guard when a photographic moment happen's. |

Yeah, good policy....I've actually gotten pics of orcas around there before, along w/sperms and several others. Only saw one whale last weekend, but couldn't tell what it was. And very few dolphins....hopefully w/improve by next trip in October. |

If I were to see a tiger or hammerhead I hope I could react fast enough to get some shots of them! |

We were just lucky he/she jumped at all, and the 2 jumps took place w/in about 20 seconds, so not much time to react! Maybe someday technology will let us reproduce what we see w/our eyes? But then our stories couldn't grow w/time... |

We were fishing, not diving. I do have a similar camera set-up...probably would've dropped it if I saw the fish under water and up close! |

I might drop mine also if I were ever close up. |
