I hope that you didn't put any money down in advance.  I understand that a few caravans had arrived there with no notice of the closing.  They were not reimbursed.

Good Luck!:)

no we didn't put any type of deposit....i figured something like this was going to happen....and i'm sure i or anyone else who has a "reservation" will not get any type of notice either.....how can they be so inconsiderate of people...those people that came down in the caravan must have been surprised and angered.  but you know the old saying...money talks and i'm sure the money they got for this property was talking really loud!!! oh well viva mexico!!!! it really is a shame because we've had really good stays there and it would have been an asset to sc....hope anyone else who is planning on coming down and staying there sees this fourm so they have a heads up on the what's going on......i wonder about the people who have their rv's and boats stored there what's going on with that????

It is closed also.  There are no signs or indicators of any closure until you reach El Mirador.  There you will see the barricades throughout the place.  I will talk to my local friends and find out exactly what happened.

I live in puerto Vallarta and came from the South.  No problems my way.  Coming from the North?  I don't know.  Heading towards the NW in 2 days.  I guess I will find out.  Will inquire here, about road conditions and let you now if possible.

No problem.  I will try and get all of the info I can before I leave to let people know.

It's a total drag to drive for eight hours in this heat and find that your destination is  no longer there.

Happy Trails!

What exactly is going on over there? I have my trailer in storage there and I'm getting no answers yet. Is it totally deserted or what? Any on the scene reports would be appreciated. Has anyone heard from Clarisa?

When we showed up, there was a maintenance guy wandering around and said the park, office and the restaurant were all closed.  I'll try and get a liitle more info before we leave on Saturday.

I think Clarisa is gone... She said she thought her last day would be maybe Monday, which was a few weeks ago.

We moved our RV and a friend of ours out of there without a problem.  However, our friends, tv and dvd player were gone.   We had no problem with ours!!!!

There is a security gaurd posted out front as of this past Saturday, a few RV's remain in the storage area.  Our dive master told us that the Marina next door bought the property... Just in case there is a problem getting something out of storage, you may want to check over there.

To bad, sad,   there is only one RV park left Correct?    Snowbirds be warned, both of the RV parks pack out, so I worry about the long drive and the disappointment .....

The Totonaka RV Park is just across from Charlies Rock.  Not many people there right now.  Have heard that it is a bit noisey on the weekend due to two discos across the street.  Usually in the Summer months there is no problem finding a space, but in the winter, it might be a problem.

That is where we currently stay when we go down on weekends.  The music was loud on Saturday night, not bad... the RV air conditioner drowns out the sound, but you can here the thump of the bass.  I slept thru the music, my husband got up around 2:30 and went outside, he could sing the words to the music the next day...HA HA, but kids were having fun, packed house at the clubs...  The security guard is at the gate, and the gates are closed so no worries.

Everything is really clean, staff friendly, many available spaces right now.  They say that the street is lined up with people waiting for a space in the winter months.  Fabulous restuarant within walking distance.   Walk to the beach, however you have a moment of unpleasant odor due to the sewage tank right there....  Pass quickly...

But, still a need for another RV park,  Guymas??? is there any RV parks there, seems I remember going by one at the outskirt of town, and I have heard of a number of people diving in that direction?  Anyone know?

The Hotel Playa de Cortes in Miramar has an RV park.  Take the Guaymas highway and exit at the Miramar Exit.  Follow the road to the hotel entrance.  Neat old hotel built in about 1930 or so.  During recent visits in October and June, the place was nearly deserted, but the Bar and Restaurant were open.  Here is link to their web site-no mention of RVs but I saw 3 RV in the park last time we were there in June.

Thanks,  we are kinda new to San Carlos, and trying to discover what all is there to see and do... I hear of different things but don't know where to find them.  HA HA!!!

Love san carlos... I know where your talking about... We drove into the place last year.   We went through Gyumas to the shrimping boats, that was really cool to see.

Thanks, if anyone has interesting ideas of places to visit, post them I am sure many of us would love to check out all the places.

we took a drive out to miramar last november and the rv park looked like it hadn't been touched let alone used in years......the spaces were all weeded over and the hookups didn't look useable.....did something change from that time......i've been to the hotels website but there is no mention or link for the rv park.....

I saw 3 big RVs there in May.  Unfortunately I did not take a detailed look at the park.  We went to the bar once and had dinner another time.  The place is not busy, thats for sure.  We saw a large wedding party one time and a large gathering for a political candidate's workers on another visit.

I received information this morning from a knowlegeable rep for one of the owners that there are currently no plans to convert the RV park to condos, houses or anything else and all that is naught but a rumor.  The park is closed for the summer and will reopen in the fall on a date TBA.  When i get the reopening info i will publish it.  Hope that clears up this matter.

I consider my source to be A1-the marketing director for a 50% owner.  They contacted me to post this info so think you can take it to the bank.

Hey Bart

Maybe you could bring up to this gentleman, that divers and a few summer folks do love to stay there, if indeed the restaurant is open, and the pool is kept up anyway, maybe they could stay open in the summers, and we could just pay for our stay in the restaurant while we are having dinner and drinks.

Hey, I will work weekends for him for the stay just not during divetime.  They can pay me at dinner, over drinks!!!!!  LOL

Anyone know what is going on with Erika, great girl... Is she working at another dive shop???? or private....??? Surface time shop locked up last time I was there

This is posted on the dive board from May 27th...

Just an FYI, Oasis San Carlos has closed their doors.  If you have any reservations with them, be sure to contact their Phoenix office.  We (Surface Time) had sold some of our dive business and one of our boats to them...but we are separate companies!  Surface Time still operates our smaller dive/fishing boat (max 8 divers, about 1.25 hours to the island), full dive instruction, etc are still available.  For the time being, contact us via email or phone.

GO DIVE!!!

Sorry, no ID on the jellies that were around recently, I was told Lion's Mane..but can't be sure!  (don't fret, these are not the Pacific Man of Wars...nothing like that yet!)

We went down to move our trailer from El Mirador to Totanaka and our TV was missing and our trailer had been moved. Not sure how they got in and took the TV and they will not admit that they moved the trailer. Just a heads up if your trailer is still parked there!

You are living in Puerto Vallarta. Can you give me some info of the RV Parks in Rincon de Guyabitos specifically El Rfugio Trailer Park, Trailer Park Tropico Cabanas, Paraiso del Pescador and Trailer Park Las Oasis? Are they clean or run down? Which one  would you recommend the most? Thanks for your help iin advance.

A second option in town would be the Tetekawi behind the Best Western. I don't know how many sites are functional or have anything more than a parking space.

Thank you.  Does anyone know how to contact the RV park other than just showing up?  We are coming up in January to look for a house in San Carlos/Guaymas?  Would anyone be willing to have a conversation with me about their thoughts and experiences in San Carlos?  We love the area and would be moving from the PV area.  We would like to get the general idea about the community. I know it's very general but anything would be great.

Thanks so much!

I think San Carlos is a GREAT choice!!! We met quite a few people that live there and they were wonderful....even got invited to their homes....I know it's a lil cooler there in Dec. and Jan. but not bad/

We are thinking about moving to the PV area...are you in a nice rv park? Our son lives in Sayulita, would like to move closer to him...

We live in a house in Sayulita and just sold a home up north of here.  We store our RV.  We have heard there are a number of great RV parks in the area.  The Sayulita RV Park is really nice, right on the beach!  It is not huge but holds about 30 RVs, has a restaurant and you can walk to town.  Sayulita is a wonderful town!

Thanks for your reply,

Jan

Yes, we will be selling our house.  We are in a small neighborhood called El Mangal.  We don't have a view but the house is really nice.  We will probably sell in March or earlier if we can start a house in San Carlos/Guaymas.  The house is 2 bdrm down, one master suite up....two years old, small yard and we are building a little pool.  My regular email is janambrose@gmail.com
