| New to site and am visiting S.C. for the first time. Any locations of some good snorkling spots? A must see? Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanx!

If you don’t have the “Google Earth” program on your computer….get it! It’s a free download and will be an invaluable resource. http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html
Use the zoom feature to get a good up-close view!
I’m going to use longitude/latitude references to explain where the sites are that we enjoyed. I’ll type the numbers in the Google Earth format, so all you should have top do is copy and paste them into the Google Earth “location” box.
Easiest place to get to and excellent location: 27 56’33.61”N, 111 03’06.87”W
This is the “Club de Playa”. This entire cove is good snorkeling. You can park in their parking lot, walk right through the main entrance, past the pool, and right out to the beach. They will be happy to have you. There are no restrictions as to your being anywhere here. Nobody will bother you, and if you want drinks, food, etc., they’ll be happy to serve you! Very comfortable experience and extremely easy to access.
Both sides of the cove along the rocks was great. In pics #2 and #4 you will see the white beach chairs in the background along the sandy beach where you'll be entering the water.

Next place is: 27 56’21.42”N, 111 05’19.39”W
We parked exactly in this spot and then snorkeled this cove. Again, anywhere there is a rocky shoreline is good stuff. There are no facilities out here at all. Watch out for soft sand on some of the trails down to the beach. Can be other vehicles driving in and out of this area. Not the most secure as for as the car, but we’ve not had any problems.

Next is Hotel Pardisio, which is the old Club Med. It will be way out west past the newer Marina. You can park in their lot, walk through the outdoor bar area, down the walkway along the little pond and out to the beach. It’s a long walk, so travel light.
Parking location: 27 58’13.77”N, 111 06’47.30”W
Swimming location: 27 57’56.58”N, 111 06’55.52”W
Rocks and rocky areas are the key.

The next two locations require a watercraft. You can rent kayaks at the Marina I think, (approximately $35). There’s also a dive shop a couple of blocks before you get to the Club de Playa also. We had an inflatable w/motor to get to some nice spots.
First is Martini Cove: 27 55’55.81”N, 111 03’35.98”W
This is a popular spot, also called “The Aquarium”. I thought it was a little over-rated. Still, a nice spot to snorkel if you can get out there.
The greatest place I’ve found yet was the very last area visited on our recent trip.
27 56’14.60”N, 111 03’52.28”W and as far south that you can swim along this cliff.
This was da bomb!!! We could’ve spent days checking this area out. Definitely going to be the first place I go back to next time. Lots and lots of sea creatures…..the works!
There are lots of places to snorkel in SC. Just stay in and as close to the rocks as you can and you won’t be disappointed. Sometimes the best stuff was within 4-8 feet off the shore line in less than 6 ft of water.

We have a very nice dive snorkel and trail guide to San Carlos, with topographical map and information on many many sites in San Carlos. Sonoran Sport Center is located just past the first Pemex gas station as you come into town. You can also purchast the guide at JonJens fishing charters, Marine Mart and Sagitario gift shop.
