Found a mooring ball to rent, although would really like to purchase one.  If anyone hears of a mooring for sale that will accommodate a 40' sailboat, please let me know.
Thanks!

In the process of purchasing an O'Day 40'.   The broker is Tom and Sea of Cortez Yachts in San Carlos.  Survey done, scheduling sea trial shortly.

Congratulations on the boat. Have you sailed much down there? We've trailered down from CO a few times and may, hopefully make it this fall.

Actually, never have sailed in the Sea of Cortez!  lol   I do have a friend that has a fishing boat there and have been out many times with him.  I had a sailboat about 10 years ago, have chartered boats a few times, but it has been my dream to take some extended sailing trips.  Looks like San Carlos is a great home port and we are looking forward to exploring the various coves and habors of the area.

FYI, if I didn't live here in Pagosa, it would be in the Buena Vista/Salida area.  Have you been there long?

I will be heading back to San Carlos in a week or two to complete the sea trial on the boat, finalize the purchase, etc.  I am planning on heading down in January for an extended stay.

Been in BV for ten years now. The plan is to have a boat someplace warm and the house in BV. Then go to wherever is the nicest at the time.

Have you thought about Marina Seca? Call them in advance and they can have the boat in the water when you get there. Cost a lot less and the boat is not in the water full time.

Sounds like we have the same plan.  Been here in Pagosa for 7 years and looking for a place to spend part of the winter, and perhaps other brief get-a-ways.  I have a small lodging business and after last winter, decided that spending a month or two away from the snow sounded good.

I have contacted Marina Seca and they do have a slip.  Also Jon at Jonjen Charters has a mooring ball.  The mooring ball is much cheaper, but having the ability to clean up the boat after launching in a slip makes it much more simple.  We'll see what is available when I actually take posession of the boat.

What kind of saiboat do you have?

We have a Com-Pac 27. Trailering is a challenge but doable. We've taken it to SoCal, Mex and the PNW.

Here is a link to our last trip to San Carlos.
