I was told that items for my boat in San Carlos are duty free when crossing the border! new items such as , solar panels, radar, and flat screen tv etc. Does anyone have any info on this?
Thank you,

Unless things have changed recently the information you received is incorrect. I'm sure some of the locals will provide better insight than I can. I've never been able to bring things down for the boat without declaring and paying duty. The only exception that I know of is if you bring a broken part out of Mexico for repair and replacement and you list it and stop at Mexican customs on your way out and declare it. You can then bring back a similar replacement part without paying duty. Some people also forget they have boat parts in the vehicle.

Thank's John....not what I wanted to hear . I guess I have to go to plan B. I'm not sure what that is. Do you know what % the duty is? I take it that the duty only applies to new items only??

What many do is declare a lesser value on some of your items and then don't declare everything that you are bringing down. Usually if you declare something and then if you should have the bad luck of getting a red light once the guys see you have declared some stuff and already paid importation duty you usually get a very minimal inspection if any at all.
