I have sailed all over Utah but only mountain lakes and the GSL.
I currently sail a 20 foot Vivacity twin keel, slow but safe. Is there decent sailing, fishing and snorkling within 10-15 miles from the marina? I have read the San Carlos posts for almost a year and plan to come down for a month in october (need to stay that long to justify the expence of bringing my sailboat). Thanks for any information on time and conditions for sailing etc.

Are you talking about anchorages? I go north to San Pedro (Big) Bay in my 22' a couple times a year. Pretty sure it's within the range you're wanting. Get a copy of Jerry's cruising guide for the area. The snorkeling is so-so depending on the conditions (at least in the places I've gone) but the sailing is hard to beat. I'll be there in October too.

| I don't sail, but 15 miles puts you in range of Isla San Pedro, and "the reef" for fishing and snorkeling.

You will find several anchorages within range of either Marina where you will do just fine with your boat. I would also recommend that you get Gerry Cunningham's cruising guide to the San Carlos area and it will make your cruising decisions a whole lot easier to choose and understand. I believe it lists nearly 40 anchorages within 50 miles of San Carlos. Have a great cruise.
