Firstly a great site, already found out a lot.
Now some questions and i would be very grateful if some of you could spare some time for me.
Firstly I am negotiating to buy a boat. I have read about Charlie and what great service he is giving, I have also recieved great service so far from Tom who i understand is now working with Charlie at Sea of Cortez Yacht brokers.
My intentions are to buy the boat and leave it where it is in dry storage at Marina Seca. Does anyone have any comments to make on this ? I intend to leave it there for maybe 6 months and finish the work on it.
I would like to buy a cheap car and also leave it there for use in getting supplies etc or would i be better off just renting? Does anyone know the current rental rates. (Cheap as possible).
It is not that I am a cheap person, just that I have a very limited budget and I am trying to fullfill a dream.
Is there anything that I should be wary of?
Thank you for reading

Regarding your questions:

We've had our boat at Marina Seca for 8 years and have been very satisfied. Prices have gone up but so has everything else.
I would like to buy a cheap car and also leave it there for use in getting supplies etc or would i be better off just renting? Does anyone know the current rental rates. (Cheap as possible).
Depending on how you plan to travel back and forth, you may be better off renting. You can't buy a Mex plated car without Mex drivers license, which means you need more than a tourist card, etc. Cost of owning a US plated car will include purchase price, US tags and insurance, Mexican insurance and storage cost for the vehicle. Unless you plan to drive that vehicle back and forth to USA, may be cheaper to rent.
Don't have current rent rates but they seem higher than those in US.

Thank you for that.

I'm confused. I thought it was San Carlos Yachts.

| Yes so am I a little bit and I am a little bit wary as I maybe parting with a large (for me) sum of money on a lot of trust. It seems that they have 2 brokerage companies San carlos Yachts and Sea of Cortez Yachts and I wonder why?

The original partners in SC yachts split up. Stick with Charlie and you'll be OK.

Spoke to Charlie this morning-he is in place at San Carlos yachts-see the ad on our main web site. Tom Johnston is at Sea of Cortez yachts.

So Charlie who was originally w/San Carlos Yachts is now at San Carlos Yachts again and is not with Sea of Cortez Yachts? All I see for Sea of Cortez is a boat club. Are they selling boats also?

That is correct-Sea of Cortez yachts does not advertise with us and is not connected to the Sea of Cortez boat club-they are separate operations, as is San Carlos Yachts.

We bought a boat from Charlie last year, Have nothing but good thing to say about him. At one time the deal fell thru and we had no trouble getting our money back from the escrow people. When come time to sell our boat we will be using Charlie.

I have spoken to Charlie and he has put my mind at rest, everything is as it should be and I am totally happy. Tom is doing a fantastic job at Sea of Cortez brokerage and has been incredibly helpfull to me. Hopefully this will lead on to more sales for him from more Europeans, I am already recommending him to my friends here.
Thank you all for the replies, they have been very helpful and I hope I will be meeting some of you when I come down in Jan, not long now, counting the weeks !!
