I have a 1979 Sailboat with a VW 50 HP Diesel.  I need to replace the heat shields anyway due to leaks.  Now is probably a good time to get the injectors serviced.  Other than leaks, the motor runs excellent, starts easily, and idles smoothly.  I already bought and received the heat shields (which also act as gaskets) from VW in Guaymas.  I also have the VW service manual.

Any recommendations for either:
- a service shop in Guaymas where I take the 4 injectors?
                   or
- someone to remove, get the injectors serviced, and replace them for me?

The boat is on a mooring in Bahía San Carlos.

Manuel the mechanic, has worked on diesel motors in the Marinas for years. You can ask the locals around Marina San Carlos. He drives an older small pick up. I think it is an S-10. Most of the time he is working in Marina San Carlos on the side opposite the Office.

There is an excellent Lab on the way to Guaymas, they are in a small complex of buildings not to far past the turn off the Airport on the East side of the road. It is a U shaped complex of small office spaces. I have  had my injectors services there many times over the years. That would be the best place to go, I will have to look for the business card I have from them.

As you go towards Guaymas on the highway make a u turn at the second stop light you come to. That is Collosio ave. Come back a bit and look on your right hand side of the road and you will see the Lab, it is in the courtyard of a u shaped old dilpidated builing complex. It is clearly marked Diesel Lab on the window.

We have a very good Mechanic at the shop now as well so if anyone needs a good mechanic feel free to contact me. After years of trying to teach sailing instructors how to be mechanics I decided to find a good mechanic and teach him how to sail!!! I have been very happy with the results.
