Vince,
Do you have small boats you instruct with and how young a person will you give lessons to?
Thinking of my son.

Ya Shamus we have a 23 foot erricson, mono hull, and a 28 foot trimaran we use for teaching the beginning courses on.
How old is your boy?

My son is 9, going on 10.
I grew up sailing, so not looking for a beginner course myself, but I would of course accompany him.
Let me know what you think, we'll be down together the week after the Yellowtail Tourney, March 15th.
So, looking at March 17, 18, or 19th, or once a day, not familiar with your class structure.
Thanks!

Surely there is someone in San Carlos who has a small 2-3 person sailboat sitting on their veranda they would be willing to loan to Seamus and Vince for a few days to get this boy hooked on sailing? What a great opportunity to show the boy something other than the way to a shopping mall.

John, thanks for the words!
Although I'm no longer big into sailing, mostly due to time restraints, my father taught me and I'd like to get my son into.
At his age, I was most dinghy sailing on Mirror's, Optomist and a little later on Lazers.
He might be a little young for a bigger vessel.
PS - Might get back into sailing if 2008 in SC has the same winds as 07, hardly had a calm day on my power boat.
No Sniveling, I'm refering to the Yellowtail "Spearfishing" tourney on March 15th, remember I'm the diver.
All the best!

JOHN,
Vince has owned and operated the Sonora Sports Center for many years. Giving sailing classes is a part of his business.
He has several sail boats and he is an excellent instructor, sailor, diver, kite boarder and an all around good guy.
One could not ask for a better instructor for sailing, or several other types of water sports, for an adult or a child.

Jimmy if you would re-read my post you would see that I included Vince. My suggestion was made due to the fact that most of Vince's boats would be a little large for a 9-10 year old to handle and I was hoping someone had a smaller boat that Vince could use to teach the boy. In no way was I trying to exclude Vince from a little sail instruction business. Guess it is impossible to provide a suggestion on the forum without someone getting upset and jumping on your case but it was worth a try. You will hear no more from me on this subject.

John,
Thanks for your input, sorry it was misunderstood by Jimmy, sure it was no more than that.
Vince did get back to me directly and said he would soon be getting a 16' hobie that he thought would be good for my son to start out, implying that his present vessels were a little large for him to handle.
He also said I was welcome to use it anytime he was not.
Thanks again!

Sorry I sounded upset to you all. I was not. This is just my direct, matter of fact, writing style and no disrespect was intended by my above statement.
I really know how to "RANT", as it has been called by other fellow members on this board, and that post was not a rant.
When I rant, you will know!
The above posting was only to state my opinion of a local business man whom I have known for many years.
