I AM LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR AND CREW TO BRING MY 2002 WILDCAT MK II TO SAN CARLOS FROM EITHER HILTON HEAD, SC OR FT. LAUDERDALE, FL. NEED EXPERIENCE IN SAILING THE CARIBEAN, THROUGH THE PANAMA CANAL, UP WEST COAST OF MEXICO AND SEA OF CORTEZ. SPECIFICATIONS AND PICTURES OF THE BOAT CAN BE SEEN AT: http://www.wildcat.co.za/specs.htm
I AM IN SAN CARLOS FOR A FEW WEEKS AND CAN BE REACHED LOCALLY AT: 01152622261065, OR IF YOU ARE IN THE U.S., BY CALLING 775-852-7263 (CALL WILL BE FORWARDED TO ME IN SAN CARLOS). MY NAME IS RAND.
THIS IS A TERRIFIC OPPORTUNITY FOR SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO ENJOY A LONG CRUISE. UNFORTUNATELY, WORK PREVENTS ME FROM DOING SO.
ALSO, ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

You might want to check out http://www.dockwise.com it is a whole lot easier on the boat and any crew especially from Florida thru the canal. I think they will drop your boat in either Lazaro Cardanes or maybe even La Paz, Baja Sur depending on their schedules. We have had several friends who have used their services and have been quite happy with the results.

John,
Thank you very much for the quick reply. I have checked out what you suggested. They want 22,000 pluse to bring the boat just to La Paz. Out of my budget, but do appreciate the suggestion. Am hoping to find someone who is interested more in the pleasure than making money. I have also checked out Yacht Path International but the closest they can come is Ensenada. Still considering them but also considering a private licensed captain, but that may cost a bundle also. Will keep searching.
Regards, Rand

Wow I am surprised at the cost. We had several friends who used Dockwise thru the canal from Florida a year or two ago for less than $8,000 and others who went from La Paz to Vancouver BC for just over $6,000.

| Wow! I do not understand as I got several quotes for different drop offs and minimum was 22,000. Yacht Path International wants minimum of 15k. Thanks again.

Rand:
My name is Fred Thumhart. My wife, Sue, and I have been living here aboard our MapleLeaf 48 for the past 5 years.
I have 100 ton USCG Masters License endorsed for sail and I'm an American Sailing Association Instructor certified to the Advanced Coastal Cruising level. I've done a number of deliveries and have been up and done the West Coast a number of times from Cabo to Seattle. Our most recent delivery was in May-June this year when we delivered a Freedom 42 from San Carlos to San Diego. I have a reference letter from that trip which I can forward via email.
We are in San Carlos, and would be happy to get together and talk about your delivery to see if it would work well for all of us.

Let me know what you come up with on cost, as I am considering the same thing to San Carlos. A sailboat can be puchased for substantially less in Florida than California, perhaps even with a savings including the transport.
Also, what is the best weather window?
Thanks,
Tucson Tony

I would be very interested in getting a price for a delivery from San Diego
to the Marina there. The time factor would be mid April / May 2007.
