I've heard the best waves (for windsurfing and kiteboarding) are at La Manga.  Is this north of the old Club Med, and are there any beach houses or condos to rent there?  Thanks-  Matt

Matt, I replied on the main forum before I saw your "wind" question.  First Choice has a property in the area you mentioned that would be large enough for your group.  Check out their website and give Diane a call, tell her I sent you!  The wind can make relaxing on the patio difficult during the winter but if that is what you're after it doesn't get any better.  Have a great trip!

You are correct Matt the best waves are there, I was kiting last week with some nice swells, there are no rentals at la manga but perhaps at costa del mar which is a small gated community next to the old club med, you might find a house there for rent.

La manga is in the bay north of the old Cub Med ( now Paradisio). Most of us that windsurf do it here. The wind is side onshore and is unobstructed. The swell is large. The beach where we launch is mostly sand with some rock. Lots of room on the water. Never crowded.

Most that kiteboard are doing it Algodones. Next bay south of La Manga. The upwind end of the beach in front of Paradisio has flat water because of a spit of rocks upwind between the beach and an island. This beach is a little more user friendly than La Manga, but, can get crowded when several kites are on the water and people on the beach.

Puesta Del sol is the closest housing development to La Manga. these are very high end home. I do not know of any rentals in here.

Costa Del Mar is on Algodones beach next to Paradisio. There was one rental in there. You can see it at http://www.sancarlosrentals.com. I think it is lot 110. It is not beach front, however, it is a great location. You can see the wind and water conditions of La manga and Algodones from the deck. You can walk about 100 steps to the beach. You might want to drive to La manga with your gear, but, it is only a few minutes away. I can not vouch for the property condition because I have never stayed there, But, it might meet your needs.

Paradisio is right there also. It has small rooms.

There is a concession @ Paradisio that sells drinks and snacks. They also rent water sports gear.
