Hello,
This is my first post to the board.....I have found so much great information on here already. Thanks to everyone who posts.
My question is this, I am looking at purchasing a 16' Zodiac style boat and am wondering if any of you use this type of vessel to dive from in San Carlos. I would hate to tote the thing down from Phoenix only to discover that it is not going to work. If anyone does use this type of boat, what HP motor do you use? I am looking at 30HP motor that I am assuming will be more than enough. Any input is greatly appriciated.

Hi Gdaaym8z
For over 10 years I did what you want to do. I Had a 14 foot Zodiac that I would carry in the back of my truck rolled up. The zodiac I had was very old but very seaworthy. I ran a 35 hp outboard motor that moved me very well. We use this boat to fish and dive all along the coast. Inflatables do great in rough water. We would take it to Haystack, Windowrock, or Deer Island. We always said we would take it out to San Pedro Island but never did. With 4 divers and all the gear for two dive, we were not getting on plain so gas was an issue. Check to see what horse power rating your boat has and try to match your motor. You don't say if you have it on a trailer or rolled up. Moving a 50 hp motor gets difficult to say the least. PM me and we can chat about all the fun you will have.

| Thanks for all the great info. I am still shopping around for a boat. My wife and I are going to be going down to San carlos for the first time in the next few weeks. I have a business trip to Oregon then we will be headed down when I get back. Do you live in San Carlos?
