| We are coming down Sunday for a week and might do some diving. Is the "green water" in the local coves like we hear about out at San Pedro? Is the visibility overall pretty bad? We assume high 60's or low 70's for water temperature? Thanks for any tips!

While in san carlos over the weekend I talked to one of the dive masters at El Mar Dive Center about the dive conditions all around. He said that he had been diving out at window rock and Saint Nicolas. He claimed that the water was very green for the first 20 feet then it cleared up allot. This time of the year is always hard to tell. You can always use the braille method of diving .

| We have some relatives that would be snorkeling, does that mean they are to expect pretty bad conditions too? We have never snorkeled or been diving past October. Thanks!

| Not necessarily, I have been to martini cove and had great viz when we found nothing but pea soup everywhere else. If you can get out to the beach by the Marina Del Rey, you should find good water to snorkel. Over the weekend as we were exiting the marina going out to the island, the water was very clear. Its just hit and miss at this point. good luck

| What about the red tide? Can you dive during that? It was noticed yesterday outside the SanCarlos Harbor and it was also in the Bahia all week end.

| What is Red Tide and does it come and go during the day or does it seem to last for several days? Is it the same as the pea soup or green water we read about? Sounds like diving or snorkling Thanksgiving week will be hard to count on being good. Thanks for the info!

Just a temp update for the water this year. My son and I have been diving the last couple weeks and it has been in the 62* range. Its been fairly mild this year thus far.
