Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the jellyfish are still abundant on the shoreline. We were down in June and our kids could barely swim due to all the jellyfish. We are planning on spending next week in San Carlos and just wondered if conditions had changed.
Thanks!

| We live on Algodones beach north of Paradiso Hotel. I haven't seen any in the water lately. Historically, they seem to appear after storms and one is due in this weekend. We'll see.

| They seem to come and go at this time of year even without storms. You can check with the dive shops and sometimes they can recommend an area that is clear. Also consider wearing skins or at least rash shirts to cover up, helps with the sun protection too. Good luck!

We were there in mid June and they were pretty thick, are they still?
We finally quit going to Catalina because they were so bad.
Near Isla Venado was pretty clear of them, we had no issues snorkling/diving.

| I shore dive almost daily and am in the water every day one way or the other, haven't seen any jellies the whole 3 weeks I've been down. A couple Man-o-Wars, but that's maybe 2 or 3 in literally dozens of times being in the water.

| We just got done with 3 scuba dives the last 3 days. Didn't see any jellyfish at San Pedro, Emerald Bay (Kevin's Rock) or the shore dive from Marinaterra Beach club. We expected to see them but none this weekend. It was fun not to worry about them but always be prepared at this time of year.

| We have seen some in late Sept and early October but like always, it depends on the weather and other factors. You can always email the dive shops before you come to get an idea in addition to this Board. Good Luck!

Hi,
Gypsy here!
I'm traveling to San Carlos for the first time in April 09. I want to go diving, snorkeling, rent a jet ski, go sightseeing and swimming.
I'm staying in an apartment so I'll probably do most of my own cooking.
Is it possible to get fresh fish and seafood off the boats? Is there a decent food store available?
Is the night life good? I mean can I get a Margarita, listen to some good music do a little dancing that time of year?
Is the weather warm enough for diving/snorkling? I'm not one to lay on the beach. I'd rather be doing something!
Also is it worth it to visit the Pearl Factory, Hermosilla, etc.?
It is the week After Easter, Will there be a ton of college kids around (I hope NOT).
It is my first trip to this side of Mexico and I am looking forward to the adventure.
Thanks for any info!
Gypsy

For fresh seafood talk to Pablo at the Marina San Carlos Fuel station. Lots of the local pangadores get their fuel there and he can make an order for you and you can get it that afternoon.
Please tip Pablo.

Gypsy, why don't you post your enquiries on the San Carlos board? You will get more responses. YOur post is a bit hidden on this board and on this thread.
I think you will get good info.
Anyways here goes my 2 bits (Cdn) worth.
There are good stores in San Carlos. You can get fresh produce (pricey) from Tony's produce stand. He's got lots of stuff including shrimp and some meats and some prepared Mexican food. there are fish and shrimp vendors around a lot. You won't have any trouble finding them and if you have any questions just ask. People are very friendly in San Carlos.
There are a few good bars and lots of restaurants and the night life seems to end at around 10pm for the Anglos and begin around that time for the Mexicans.
There is lots and lots to do in San Carlos. You'll love the place.
