The road is a fourlane improved highway.  It is a toll-road. Do not ask me how much the tolls are because I can never figure the rhyme or reason of the fare from day to day.

It takes about 6 hours to make the drive from Tucson.  The longest wait is crossing the border from Mexico.  The US Border Patrol has lost its mind.   Carry a US Passport, if you have one.  Avoid making the crossing on major holidays like Easter.

The shoulders are kind of steep, so be sure to travel with a good spare tire.  The green angels will change this for you, if you need them.

Travel with a group of vehicles, if you can.  There is safety in numbers.

All in all, it is a safe journey.  Be respectful of the people and culture and this will carry you far.

Carry a roll of your own toilet paper.
