Date: July 7, 2007   Location: Martini Cove   Weather: sunny
Water Temp: 84F    Viz: 40 - 10ft      Current: Mild

We did PADI Rescue course there. In this course, we mostly stayed on the surface to practice rescue skills. We found hundreds of " Man-of-War".
But everyone wore wet suits or lycra and  paid attention to them. So nobody got stung.
Water was nice and WARM !!! ( Sargassum weeds no longer bother me. They are almost gone)

Date: June 11, 2007   Location: Martini Cove   Weather: sunny+wind
Water Temp: 86F(surface) 84F(bottom)    Viz: 20-30ft      Current: none

I had 2 great Divemaster candidates and they practiced guiding. They learned how to lead dive group, entertain divers, deal with some problems( the divers who played customers pretended to have some problems underwater. ) and so on...

They showed me a lot of cool stuff like huge Octopus, big green moray eel, round sting rays, balloon fish, juvenile of boxfish( Cute!!!!),etc...

I also had a teenage girl who did Discover Scuba Diving( diving experience program which is designed for those who have never tried SCUBA diving before) .
Martini Cove is very calm and shallow. perfect site for anyone who want to try this exciting program.

By the way, we didn't see any man-of-war today.

Date: July 12, 2007   Location: Deer Island(west)  Weather: sunny+wind
Water Temp: 84F(surface) 82F(bottom)    Viz: 50ft      Current: mild

We were going to San Pedro Island on that day but we changed the plan as our customer's request. It was really windy and rough. we ended up diving at Deer Island and it was good condition. our customers liked there a lot and they dived there twice.

Deer Island is very pretty dive site. very good balance between sand patch and big rocks. The depth is about 15-20ft near the island and its easy to get to +40ft going west. When you go south, there is a gentle slope and rocky. A lot of Surgent Major had their eggs on the rock.

we saw huge stone scorpion fish, octopus, round ray, rainbow wrass, christmas tree worm, surgent major and more....

It was better condition than the day before and we made it to the Island.
I had a PADI Advanced open water student and we did Deep dive there. We went down along anchor line to 90ft deep and did some tasks( narc'd test etc) there. the rocky bottom gently slopes to a depth of 80ft, then drops off, creating a wall. I don't know how deep the bottom is.  Excellent view when we were swimming in midwater (+80ft). We really enjoyed underwater landscape.

When you do deep dive, you should consider your air consumption, NDL(non-decompression limit), bouyancy control, Nitrogen narcosis. If you've never done deep dive before, its good idea to dive with instuctor as you never know if you get narc'd. ( Advanced course(up to 99ft), Deep diver specialty-- you will go as deep as 130ft!!)

Water Temp: 73F(!!) - 82F   Viz: 30ft+      Current: mild , Surge

It was very rough trip. I had 3 Advanced course students and did "peak performance buoyancy" training. I was looking for the good spot to practice buoyancy, but i just found the place with surge or "freezing cold" ( my computer said 73F!!!) patch. We ended up practicing buoyancy very near the boat which was warm (82F) and least current and surge in this site.

In the middle of the night on that day, we had lots of thunder and lightning, strong wind and a heavy rain in San Carlos.
