Jason- One other note I forgot to mention, we have whales here in San Carlos 12 months out of the year, not sure why everyone thinks there here only during the winter months, I have Pic's of a Pod of Killer whales shot last August In 89 deg. water ? now that was a little strange but we do see fin-backs and pilot whales all summer

good luck

I'll add that I've also come across pods of sperm whales on several occasions, although the beaked whales and finbacks are much more common.

Yeah, the sperm whales were abundant last year in April and May - we saw pods on many occasions, and one trip , they were the only whale species we saw. We were able to troll about 50 yards away, running along side of the calves and adults for several miles. It was my first encounter with sperm whales - really special!

We also do whale trips over at Sonoran Sport, here is a link http://www.sailsancarlos.com/Whales.htm to out whale page.

I have been taking people whale watching for many years here but the reallity is you have to be out on the water quite a bit to see whales. Good luck!!!!

Sincerely Vince

Im heading down with a group of 2 snorkelers and 2 divers (possibly just 1 though) who would like to do some diving, snorkeling, whale watching, etc. A sailboat would be ideal. We are students getting ready to graduate from a masters program, so don't have a ton of money, but this is a kind of celebration trip and we are just looking for a good escape. Any suggestions, please contact me at jhines18@gmail.com.

Thanks,

Jarrett

If you haven't gone out yet, see both of my most recent posts. My brother and I managed a very fun, very inexpensive snorkeling trip down there last October, and I've already typed up a lot about it that may be helpful to you.
