Hola everyone, I'm new to the fishing in SC.  ANY advice is appreciated!!  Is a fishing license for my boat necessary?  I have stopped in at the fishing office several times when I have been in SC and it is always closed.  Also, do people on my boat need a license?

Yes to both questions.  You need a permit for the boat and fishing licenses for all anglers over 16 on board.  The pesca office is open from 0830-1500, M-F.  The rules are on our web site at http://www.sancarlosmexico.com/project.html.

Other sites note that persons of any age on a boat with fishing equipment must have valid license, whereas you note over 16. Can you clarify?

That was the info I have, but may be dated.  I will try and call them to get this cleared up.

Update: Just spoke to the Mexican fisheries office in San Diego (619)233-4324.  The rule is that if they are old enough to hold a rod or line they need a license.  Seems reasonable to me.  They are sending the current regulations and we will update the site upon receipt.
Thanx
Bart
