We had a great weekend of fishing, doing both inshore and offshore fishing.

Friday we went out and saw a few billfish, never had one in the spread but landed 3 nice dorado and 1 tuna...we had a double on tuna but landed only 1. We had an 11 year old on the pole, who enjoyed a looooong fight and brought aboard a nice yellowfin...his first salt water fish and he gets a YFT! lucky kid!!!!

Saturday we started inshore looking for sierra but did not find them, we caught one cabrilla and saw bait flying out of the water all over the place west of deer island.

At about 10.30 am we decided to bring in the rapalas and make a run to look for dorado and marlin...we dropped the lines at 10 miles on a 180 and had a billfish on the spread almost immediatelly, took a bait but we missed the hook up. We kept on trolling out to 18 miles and landed 2 dorado on the way out, at 18 miles we saw some jumpers and worked the area landed another dorado. We started trolling back and at 15 miles 175 we had another marlin come in the spread, took a bait, dropped it and switched to a lure, we hooked him up and the fight was on...Mr. Fernando Liogon was on the pole fighting his first marlin...35 minutes later we had him to the boat after a good aereal display that gave me he chance to take a few pictures.

My favorite 2 shots of the weekend:

his first release,

After the release we set the lines back out and had a double on dorado, lost one and boated the other one for a final count of 4 dorado and 1 marlin.

Sunday I took my father in law for some inshore fishing, we had a blast casting from the boat to the rocks, watching lots of fish chasing bait and ended up getting 5 nice cabrilla, 1 on the troll and 4 casting to boils.

It was a fun fun fun weekend of fishing, with great weather and calm seas all weekend long.

Fernando

A Cabrilla Bonita! We caught a few simple bottomfish the other day that had some great simple colors. Take a second to realize the beauty that most every fish out there has. Fernando, I think your Cabrilla may 'take the cake' though!
