| I am looking at doing some fishing in the San Carlos area hopefully early december. I was wondering if anyone knew how the fishing is that time of year and had any recomendations.

Big fish, little fish, fish 'till you drop, casual catch if they're biting, willing to pay by the ton, or on a budget? Give us a clue.....

I am planning on coming down with my boat. Been out on it once before off of San Diego. Still learning what I am doing as far as fishing goes. Trying to keep the cost reasonable.

December is yellowtail and bottomfishing season. The yellowtail were right outside the harbor last year and could be found by watching for birds crashing on boils. Most years you have to run at least to San Antonio Point, or Isla San Pedro to find them.
You will want to hire a local captain to go on your boat with you to show you where to go, especially if you want to find the reefs and bottom fishing spots. You didn't mention how big the boat is....

If you are a prudent person, a local captain is a must!!!
They are easy to find around the launch ramp at Marina San Carlos and they are worth a lot more than the $50 to $100 per day that you will spend.
Your education will include; water hazard location, weather, where the fish are, how to fish for each type of fish, boat operation and maintenance, and even local info on San Carlos and Guaymas area.
A through education will keep you safe and happy while you enjoy the San Carlos experience.
I recommend calling my family captain Fernando (Banano) Estrella (from US) 0115216221181749. He speaks proficient English and he can answer your questions and set you up with whatever you need. He is knowledgeable, reliable and an all around good guy.
