CW,
It's been raining for the last three days (on and off), so we've been hanging out on shore.

Pretty skunky out there today. Hit a few skipjack before the point, ran to San Antonio looking for the reported large sierras and got nothing, less one small one off Deer Island. Trolled to the Island and then buzzed both points hoping for a wahoo. Things were pretty green, but a little blue on the south point and down to 80 at the north tip. Probably was too late in the morning for bonita. Looked for yellowtail on the north end out to 450'. Pulled large skipjack jigging off the only readings found in the normal panga YT hole. Headed out to find a lot of green water. Only passed one marlin and saw one or two jumping. A few flyers and only saw one school of bait come up. Water was still in the upper 80's. Trolled in past the end of the reef. Hit the 'troll hole' for corvina at sunset, but low tide, for a final tap on the skunk. At least it was a nice day on the water. Saw one jellyfish and one dolphin!
It can only get better, right?

Pretty old post here now that things are changing rapidly. I was getting a little concerned looking at green water today to 22 mi. out. We found a big telephone post and pulled some nice dorado to 20# off it. Caught another half dozen dorado up to 12# coming in off random fish and small birds. Around eleven fish for the day. Never saw the tuna yet supposedly six were caught yesterday 30mi. out to 30#. Seas were not too friendly today. Caught a sail and missed a couple others today (one was a marlin). Caught two sails on Tuesday with a few dorado on the reef and a smorsgabord of fish jigging the north tip of the Island (missed one 4# yellowtail at the boat). Caught fourteen yesterday off a couple trees around the reef to 20#. The water was blue a liitle north of the 190 heading 17 out, so maybe it was just a patch of green. Most all of the blue water inside the reef has seemed fishless less a few peanuts.
The Striper migration has yet to begin but the dorado are showing up with some good debris out there. There is a decent supply of sails on the reef. We went one for eight in the tournament there. Maybe I'll have to throw some elbows for the trophy next year (a lot of small feisty fish). Things should calm down in a couple days and the Fall action should be full on. Saw what may have been bonita readings at the Island with no luck and the Sierras are still a little thin, so take advantage of the dorado coming back through. Most of the dorado are this year's spawn from this side, though they are reaching keepable sizes. Have ready a full bag of tricks and you can have some light tackle fun. I had one party have to pass the rod around on a 20# fish and there was plenty of hoot and hollering the ladies. They get smart quickly so don't throw junk at them./
tight lines,

Sorry Craig - 4#. Be patient. I guess they were seen at Tortuga boiling last week.
Beautiful looking day on the water today.
Looks like the baby roosters were popping on the Pilar beach down by the estuary parking lot.

| We made it to the 29.999 mile mark but the snotty seas made me think the reef might produce and it was closer to home. Had a good strike on the 80 that let loose. Found porpoise but no tuna. We nailed some nice dorado and my six year old handled a 20 pounder for his first solo. I dropped back a bait on a toad of a bull and let my other six year old handle this fish. She lasted about two minutes and I had to step in before my Accurate went flying. But she did manage to help out fr twenty minutes until we boated it. There are still some big ones out there. Outside of the crappy seas we had fun. Special thanks to Elliot at Star Marine for the last minute consult that for bailed me out tonight on a sending unit wire that shut down my starboard motor........ -Jarrod
