Does Tony have a fishing license?? That was my question Vinny.
Sorry Vinny ....... Yes, even a Mexican from La Manga must have a fishing license. Just like the Mexicans from Guaymas! Why would he be different than any other Mexican in the busisness of taking people fishing? Pilo has a fishing license! The Grajeda's have fishing license's.
La Manga survives by harvesting fish ....... whatever it takes to live. I thought these were the people you are working to educate. That place is full of 'long lines' when the fishing is good!

| Tony, open the picture on any image editting program and look for the "resize" option on the menus, resize to 100 kb and that is it.

I was just joking around when I put on the thread that Jose Luis doesn´t need no stinkin license. This really belongs in a new thread but since Kevin put his response to a private message from me public here goes, and just remember these are personal opinions, I don´t recommend anyone to not have the fishing License.
Kevin, I believe that the people that need to be educated are the ones who are supposed to be issuing the fishing permit and managing the resource. That would be Conapesca. If they refuse to manage the resource I believe we should refuse to purchase the permit to fish. It is that simple, for me anyway.
Yes everyone is supposed to have a permit to fish and it is not legal to fish with out one. But I ask the simple question.
Why have the license if the officials are not going to enforce any laws that go along with it?
It is illegal for Conapesca to allow 2 million pounds of Dorado to be commercially fished from Guaymas and shipped to the United States but alas they do allow it and they clearly violate the law so I believe that if Conapesca is going to violate the law and are above it then I am above the law as well and should not have to have the license.
So when you pay for a fishing license you should know you are paying corrupt officials to abuse the law and a natural resource.
Jose Luis from La Manga lives off of tourism now and I suspect he has every permit he is supposed to have for what he does. I know he has his permits from Profepa for operating in the Federal Zone.
I would love to see the whole sport fising community of San Carlos and the whole Sea of Cortez for that matter be civilly disobedient and tell Conapesca that this year we refuse to purchase sport fishing licenses from you until you comply with your own laws. Conapesca would s**t their pants if that happened, but alas that is just a dream.
But it is fun to dream every now and again!!!!!
So bottom line if you want a cultural experience and a cheap fishing trip go out with Jose Luis from La Mirador de La Manga. What has happened with Jose Luis is the paradigm for the rest of the gulf, ex commercial fisherman switching over to tourism, the problem in my opinion is that it will not happen fast enough for the salvation of the resource.

Well that being said ....... I guess both Vinny and Tony have not purchased a fishing license.
Do you actually support breaking the law by refusing to buy a fishing license? A mass boycott of Mexican fishing regulations by 200 boat owners in San Carlos? What a crazy thing to say on this site!
Your ignorance and lack of basic knowledge about Mexican Maritime law is becoming obvious. You fight your own war against the Mexican Government. I will buy my license and fish!
Nice job supporting local busisness!

Kevin how is it that I don't support local business? I am a little confused on your post? How is my ignorance on Mexican Maritime law obvious? Perhaps you could educate me and anyone else reading this post. If you want to take a shot at me I got no problem with that just be a little more specific on what you are saying?
If you had seen some of the Mexican news reports I have seen over the years you would realize that there have been many large scale boycotts and civil disobedience over fisheries not to mention a whole slew of other issues.
Do you remember when the road to San Carlos was closed by local fisherman around 10 years ago in protest?
I can show you a report that I still have on my hard drive that appeared on Mexican news from several years ago that would blow your mind. Literally hundreds of pangas out of Sinaloa illegally fishing shrimp out of season in protest of the Government.
oh bye the way I actually do have a fishing license. Not that anyone has ever asked me to show it to them in the 20 years that I have been living here.
