I don't know if the following rules are valid or not because these are coming to me second hand.
Teams may bring 2 weighable sailfish and 2 weighable Marlin per day to the scales.
Team Points will be awarded per pound in excess of the minimum weight standards for each species catagory.
Prizes will be awarded for total points in each species catagory
Teams that bring in under weight fish will be penalized on Saturday.
No distance boundaries
No IGFA rule standards will be enforced, however teams are not allowed to harpoon or commercially harvest billfish.
Fishing hours are 6A to 6P

Let me first preface this post with I have every intention of fishing this tournament for the community of San Carlos. I feel we all should. I have a big problem killing vela's so I won't. Would I turn down a truck for killing big Marlin...no.
Having said that, I must tell you my reward for posting the so called rules here was a hateful and threatening PM from Pilo. I look forward to speaking with Pilo over a beer about these PM's and heavy handed tactics he and/or the tournament committee has imposed.
WTF San Carlos. What are they hiding and why don't you care?
Let me have it Pilo, you have not exhausted all the curse words in the English or Spanish dictionary.

Hi all,
I don't want to get involved with any controversy on specific rules of the Corona Tournament. I think San Carlos needs the tourism dollars desperately.
I'm surprised that Corona Tournament has not posted the rules. I understand that not everyone may be happy with them, but it's important that those planning on fishing this tournament know what is at stake. Fishing tactics change depending on the rules that we need to follow for a tournament. Many teams plan in advance to include bait preparation, line spooling and so forth. Any chance that the rules could be posted so that anglers can be prepared for what they are fishing?

| Hey Matt, I agree that SC desperately needs mucho commerce, and lots of repair to start to get back on it's feet....... This place took a major hit...... In refenence to the "rules" or lack of, would anyone know if any of the local charities will be sharing in any proceeds???? As you might imagine, some help to these organizations is needed badly as well........ Perhaps the "major" sponsors might get a gold star and step up to aid some people who are very much in need....... In my old age and cynical thoughts, I'll bet not......

Let my tell the rest comunity wait we have so much fast support and workers in SAN CARLOS and not and GUAYMAS OR EMPALME only and only you can ask to LUIS ZARAGOSA went we have convercession about the damagge we have in town and he say Pilo now is the time to call MARIO and he have power or conexions to have the tournament possible need all the help becose I do my part bet is to big ,and I call my boss and companys and govermans peoples employes show up from hermosillo and only few people now , and becose only me or LUIS Z is becose he have BOURS ,AND FRIENDS to bring back san carlos the more quickly possible.
And the last couple days I bet have E mail and messagers from people or organizacions the stop the tournament or going to boicot the tournament from mexicans DEFENSA DE PICUDOS and some american organizasion all becose MATT WALLACE OR TECATE bet sand letters and all bunsh a bullshit to stop the tournament.
If no want to kill MARLIN,SAILFISH OR ANY FISH he can stay in the dock bet if you want to tock to me I ready toll all my friends ,capitans ,mates, boat cleaners and the more import my BOSS and LUIS and evrybody want to see you,.and put you and the place you need to be.
And for me I dont want to see you or tock to you ok and this time is and english
and licked toll you if you dont licked killing tournaments go fishing and COSTA RICA or cabo

Just to offer some info on rules in The Penn Zane Grey just finished yesterday a quick look 1. A release marlin 100 pts. 2.A minimum 165lb weight & or 84inches , a 84inch that doesnt weigh 165 lbs gets you 90 pts.3 Marlin weighing over 165lbs gets you 2 pts per lb over minimum weight & 3 pts per whole lb, So a 200lb marlin gets you 435 points
Bad Company Weighed one @ 167 & one @ 168 , & won the tournament

i know ther is still alot of confustion but i am as usual more confused than most. i will try to keep my ? simple.
if they change the min marlin to 200 lbs and you have the following happen how would it be scored ?
Day 1 you weigh a fish at 190 (10 lbs under minuim ) Day 2 you weigh a fish at 220(20 lbs over minuim ). would you then have 410 points or, 210 pts, or 10 points

Eddie- The day one fish would give you Negative 10 Points going in to Day Two..That said Your day two Marlin at 220 Pounds would be docked Ten Points and Your final Score would be 210 Points...But if your day Two Marlin was only 209 Then after your Penalty was Given you would only have 199 Pounds and neither Fish would Qualify...hope this makes Sense
