Check out the latest issue of TIDE the CCA monthly magazine. Southwick & Associates economic report states that sport fishing brings (2007) 354,013 people to Los Cabos who spent an estimated $633.6 million bucks and created 24,426 jobs and $1.125 billion in total regional activity. 80% percent to the anglers surveyed said they would be more likely to return if catch-and-release angling was was required for billfish. 88% said they would be less likely to return if commercial fishing for billfish was increased. Lose these fish - loose a billions bucks and 35,000 jobs.
So, why do you have a commercial trawler with pangas attached in your waters?
GOTTA COME SEE YOUR POND SOMEDAY.

| Does Anyone know the political stance of the new politicians in these areas? Maybe change will take place, but in Mexico ... probably not. Turn the economy around with good fishing, subsidize the pangueros, they can sell their waterfront properties for big cash, invest and retire, and repurchase beachfront acres south of Empalme. Maybe if Guaymas turns into a productive commercial port, the Navy takes over or takes responsibility for keeping the waters clear or enforcing regulation, regulations are created, they bust foreign commercial boats from coming into their waters, the Navy purchases radar to catch these guys along with all the drug runners, the politicians here realize the benefits of protecting this resource in terms of increased economic revenue from Tourism, we all make our voice heard, and the demand for fish from this region is limited and controlled. But do you think this is really an issue to politicians in this area? I could only dream, but let us know who we can write to please.

| Just flew out of Cabo yesterday afternoon. Just 2 miles off shore were at least 4 tuna boats with nets in the water and 2 more anchored just off shore. Kiss the tuna fishin goodbye.

There may be a better chance with Pan in power but who is going to lobby them to make a difference? Are the sport fishing captains and charter company´s going to form an association of some sort to put pressure on them? That is the only way any advances might get done here. Dreaming is nice and what is a man without dreams I say, but when we come back to reality what it takes is making a lot of noise. Now that there is a new state government I might suggest that now would be a good time to make some noise.

| Where should I send a letter? When it's finished I'll have the community sign it.

The letter goes to the heads of Sagarpa, at the state and Federal level. Also to the new governor of Sonora, mayor of Guaymas and all federal and state diputados. We should also send it to the new secretary of Tourism that will be appointed when the new gov takes office. The letter needs to come from the Syndicato of Sport fishing captains or some other type of A.C, and should be signed by all the prestadores de servicios in town. I have been trying to get in touch with Abels father Abelino, but have not been able to reach him. It would be really great if we could get a bunch of the mex sport captains to have a small protest at the office of Sagarpa in hermosillo, I could get the press to cover that, perhaps we could get a small fund together that would allow 4 or 5 boat captains to go up to hermosillo and hand deliever the letter to Governmental offices in Hermosillo. It needs to happen when all the new players take office so there is plenty of time to get it going. We can send some copy´s of the documentary along with the letter for more impact.

Spoke with Minerva in Cabo today, that group will be happy to sign the letter. I am sure I can get my friends from the fresh water fishery in Tampico to sign it as well.

| R59, Clean Beaches are essential for my dollar/peso. I had a great trip last week in SC, but learned I can't go in the water outside of Charlies Rock and that entire stretch, because of sewage. Also the beach north of Bahia Delfin is being trashed. I know some of the cans get salvaged, but not the dirty diapers. Atv's, rails, making paths. I know it's the Mexicanos country, but if they trash it, and outfish it, buena suerta SONORA!

| Who told you that you can not go in the water by charlies rock and what was the reason? Are you saying someone is dumbing raw sewage into the bay?
