Tuesday saw great action for billfish and most boats came home with one or more decent dorado. The billfish are finally starting to get hungry, but many of them are still ignoring our tasty baits. The most successful dorado fishing came from the various longlines that were located 25-30 miles from the marina. Bryan and Capt. Joshua released two sailfish on the Margarita V, and had one "accidental release" of a good marlin (= angler drag error). We had some anglers that had gone to Cabo a couple of times in quest of a billfish, and finally ended their virginity in San Carlos! The large dorado was cleaned out (not filleted) for baking at a family reunion next weekend...that's a new one for me but it should work.
Our boat fished in the 165-190 degree area 20-30 miles out, with lots of sperm whale sightings and other billfish opportunities as well. Sassy Lady was flying the most flags with a couple of billfish releases and a number of good dorado. Other boats ranged up to 265 degrees from Doble, but most all of the action appeared to be in the 20-30 mile range. No whale sharks (see Fernando's..Catch22..great photo on another post), but we now know that some are out there!
Team Margarita is looking for a few good, experienced anglers to compete in the two upcoming July tournaments, including the Billfish Blowout over the 4th. Please contact Bryan (PM for Repsilon, or Repsilon@aol.com) if you are interested.
