| Blue water and bait in close, so it is only a matter of time. Is the reef close enough?

| Either the fishing is so good the charter guys don't have time to post or the fishing is poor and they don't want to. Which is it ?

The tournament was a little slow. At the moment you need to get out there to catch fish. We went past 22 mi. yesterday to 34mi. Caught a sail, lost a marlin at the boat, and missed some chances. There are loads of billfish out there. They are still just in their funk, not showing much interest, and not swallowing baits. Things could go 'off' any day with epic fishing. The dorado are good size and are a little more concentrated on 'northern' headings. I think I'll have to work my way up to the island tomorrow and check out this report of a panguero with 1800 kilos of yellowtail to 40# though.
Lots of small sierra in close, skipjack all around, cabrilla, big marlin waiting to warm up (or have a sierra tossed at them?), loads of marine life, and beautiful days in San Carlos too.
I'll make the prediction that this full moon may bring the sails in close and a few days after the billfish will be biting very good. From the sounds of the tournament in Topolobampo, even bigger bulls may be on the way too.

No Sniveling fished with Fish On Bait on Horsin'Around yesterday - Long day on the MOST beautiful water, best breeze and cool temperature I have ever NOT CAUGHT A FISH.... Mark got a 35# dorado for the only bite of the day.
I went home happy like a pimply faced kid who got kissed on prom night....

| Anyone know how to buy or make live bait? Anywhere around the SC Marina entrance to use a sabiki for small macs or something close?

| Good question. I've wondered the same thing because I see the pangeros fishing live bait all the time.

Instead of illegal long lining, it would be nice to someone selling live bait to sport fisherman.

Most that use live bait catch their own. Having said that, it is also possible to get bait early from the pangeros. Might need to ask around at the marina and have one of the locals make arrangements for you. There was an effort going on last fall to get something more reliable setup but not a done deal to the best of my knowledge.
Maybe one of the charter boat operators can provide updated info on this.
