Haven't seen a fish picture on here in ages and I know how whiny y'all can be when nobody is catching fish!
Time to break those winter doldrums! Here's pix of some nice white seabass we nailed this weekend in Puerto Penasco. Yours truly and mi amigo Rick.

Stuart,
Amazing! I was just sitting here thinking "there sure isn't much to look at on the fishing board in the winter"! How did ya' catch them? Maybe Fernando will post his pictures from the weekend. He caught several yellowtail and a nice cabrilla.
Now, if we only had a scratch and sniff feature, it would be almost like being there!

Nice catch Stuart! How deep to you typically find them in Rocky Point? Have a good one. Matt

Caught them out at the 51 mile reef, Matt. About 270 ft. deep. Water was 62.5 degrees.
We stopped on the way out at the 16 mile reef and made bait. Mostly horse sardines, but a few greenback macks, too. Caught two of the fish on the sardines, right on the bottom. The other one was caught on a piece of squid.
There was another boat out there throwing iron and they managed to pick up a few fish, too.
What's all that noise? Is that the sound of feet pounding the floor, the door slamming, and screeching tires coming from somewhere south, perhaps Rio Rico?

No, that's me running from my wife after shopping on ebay for all the stuff for my boat! I am sitting here plotting the demise of entire species of fish, if I can ever get back on the water for more than one day! I was just looking in the MexFish fish ID pictures and saw your smiling face with a totoaba - I caught a couple of those at Puerto Penasco about 12 years ago - fishing the 26 I think. Some day you and Steve and Fernando and I will finally meet - 'till then, keep sending great pictures from the North!

Thx Stuart...that is actually my very first cabrilla at San Pedro Island....
I have to go to that 51 mile reef out of Peñasco at least once sometime...I love bottom fishing too, and I've never caught a black sea bass...have to try it some time in the future!!
I've caught some nice white sea bass at the crack of dawn over at "las barajitas"
Those are great puctures!

The bite at the 51 is red hot right now. My fishing amigo Audi was out there this past Saturday. Said that in 2 hours they boated 9 white seabass, a 100 lb. black seabass, four large red snapper close to 20 lbs. each, some sheepshead, and oodles of large gold-spotted bass.
Also said they broke off two very large fish. He and I both suspect (based on the size of the black seabass we have managed to catch there) that there are blacks going 400+ lbs. down there. He's supposed to send me some pictures later today, I'll see if I can add some of them to this thread.
While I'd rather troll in San Carlos, I'd certainly rather bottom fish in Puerto Penasco! Would love to have you join me on a trip to the 51 sometime. It's bottom fishing at its finest!

Hi Stuart...those are great pictures!!! I wish I can make it to Peñasco sometime you are fishing there...it would be a blast...bottom fishing in San Carlos is ok, but no where near to being as good as those pictures show!!
Congrats to your buddies on my behalf
