| Cool site, just found it by accident. I expect to be in SC the first week of March as it's been too long since I had tortilla soup at Rosa's. Figure to chase YT where ever they may be. My friends keep a boat at Marina San Carlos and are fired up to bend some rods. My question to the regulars at SC: Is live bait available? I'd like to try a live presentation just to avoid yo-yoing iron all day. I've never "made bait" in the ocean and don't know if its possible at SC. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Dan

Try contacting Capt. Ricardo on Catch 22 - I think he can line you up with live mullet. Maybe Steve (Sportfishing Mogul, and owner of Catch 22 Sportfishing!) will contact you with a phone number when he reads this post. Trolling live mullet on wire line is the lazy way to catch jurel.

| Thanks for the help. I'll get hold of the catch 22 people. I had not planned on trolling with live bait, soooo what kind of rigging do you use to troll live bait and how fast? I figured to use a dropper loop with lead at the of the line and lower away.

Wire line, maybe up to 24 oz in-line torpedo, 60-80# leader, with nose and stinger hooks, trolled at SLOW speed. As anywhere, it depends on the bite. There have been multiple "events" reported recently at San Antion, San Pedro, and even 4 wmiles off San Pedro of WFO surface bites on boils and birds. I CAN"T SEEM TO GET THERE AT THE RIGHT TIME, but our friends Fernando and Steve have both been blessed with these gifts from the fish spirits. Dropper loop is not bad, but it's hard to cover ground, and if you don't have a chum line, you're waiting for them to come by. This fishing is seldom like the stuff at Cedros or other Baja hotspots - you can't just sit there and catch them 'till your arm falls off. Good Luck!
