I brought my old boat back July 6,2008 and dutifully checked in at K21, returned the decal and TIP, had them scanned and the TIP cancelled. Well, now i have traded in my boat and want to request a new TIP. When I try to file on the Banjercito web site, I get part way through, then get a message that looks like it says that I already have one (tiene un tramite en corso, or something like that). What do I do now? I'd like to have a TIP so I can use the San Carlos marinas (I store in Kino) and visit ports in Baja. Unfortunately, my Spanish is too limited to do this myself.
Thanks for any helpful advice,
Matt

| I had the same thing happen to me a few years back. My Mexican friend helped me get it straightened out in no time. I don't remember all of the particulars, but it seems I had to get notification to Banjercito first that my TIP had been canceled. Then I applied for and got the new TIP with no problem at all. Try that, and see what happens. Maybe there's someone you know around Prescott that knows enough Spanish to help you get through it. Maybe another forum member has a better or more correct idea. That's how I did it. Good luck.

| If coming to Guaymas is an option you can go directly to the Banjercito office and do it in person. You do not have to take the boat there, only your paperwork. Not as convenient as doing it online but an alternative.

My thought is the online system has not been updated from the point of cancellation as yet-not sure on this but if you have the receipt for the cancelled TIP, should not be a problem to get one for the new boat. Had a similar problem some years ago with a vehicle but showing the cancellation receipt solved it.

Thanks to all; at least that is progress. It's makes me feel better than I'm not the only one to experience this. It had occurred to me that maybe the computer systems haven't caught up yet, but I do have the Banjercito receipt. If I can't get it done by the beginning of Sept., I may just do it on the way down since I have to get my new visa stamped anyway. I also may have one of my wife's Spanish-speaking coworkers see if they can help me out on the internet. All good ideas. I was hoping someone from one of the marinas might know a short-cut, or suggestion. I wish I weren't so linguistically challenged.
Thanks,
Matt

| Update on TIP "problem" I e-mailed the address on the TIP site that related to not hearing back from them or receiving the TIP and gave them all of the information on my cancelled TIP receipt and asked for advice. I wrote in English and quickly received a reply. They had checked my information, found that it was correct, and said that it was a computer issue. They even thanked me for bringing it to their attention. Meanwhile I reapplied and used my voter registration number and it went right through. Within 48 hours max, I had the paperwork and decal overnight Fed Ex. SO I got it done! Then I heard from Bajercito again advising me to go ahead and try again and use the last 8 numbers of my passport. I informed them of what I had already done and they said "cool". All in all, very helpful, understanding and prompt. I complimented them on their promptness and help. I wish our government could be so responsive!
