Steve

If I read your post correctly, $1500 is all in for jackpot and day money, plus however many anglers @ $75/head.

Matt- Yep all In is 250.00 + 750.00 +250.00 +250.00 for a Grand total of 1500.00 ALL IN...Plus 75.00 per angler ...also keep in Mind you don't have to enter The Tournament Jackpots if you don't want...Just the Day money or what ever  Jackpots and Day Money you want...In other words enter any or all..but you can't win if you don't play..must be entered to win from that pool..

Steve
Ps If You have to leave Sunday and Can't fish both days you could enter the anglers at 75.00 and The Saturday Day money only...hope this makes sense

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that three or four billfish could easily win this tournament.

Why you ask? Well, five days of fishing the past week (June 22-28), covering over 100 miles each day, resulted in the following catch total: 1 marlin, 4 dorado, and 1 skipjack. Two of those five days were completely nada-nada. We fished close (the Reef and other reported close hotspots), we fished far (Tortuga), and we fished in between from 160 to 260.

Now, for the typical excuses (but true observations):

1) Green, green, green. The water is green. Typically, we didn't find good, blue water until we went 25 miles or further out.

2) Bait, bait, bait. I've never seen so many schools of sardines and other baitfish. Big bait balls. We'd troll around them. We'd cast to them. No takers. And the bait never flashed the surface, just bubbled along with no worries and nobody chasing them. We passed at least 6 seiner boats on Saturday that are obviously working at night wrapping the sardine schools.

Other observations:

1) When you see other boats also flying skunk flags, you know it's not just you.

2)  The only fish that hit a lure was the skipjack. All others were caught on hooded hoo run off the long starboard rigger. When you can't scratch up one knockdown running four hoo all day long, the fish are obviously not hungry.

3) That splash in the distance was actually a manta.

4) Whales do fart. We passed a finback that raised his fluke high in the air, then went under, leaving us in a quarter mile stench that rivaled the perfume of a Nogales sewer tunnel. Although I couldn't see his face, I'm sure that whale was laughing.

5) Little blue Aqua Mal jellyfish were everywhere. Big white moon jellyfish were everywhere. The little blue %$%@$ hurt like the dickens when a piece of them slings off your line and across your hand as your cranking in a lure.

Anyway, my prediction, for whatever it's worth. I wish the best of luck to all! :P

We were out yesterday landing only one sail. I did see thirty or so jumpers. The one sail we did land was in a group of three or more. They hit every line and we had two more hooked up. If I was running all bait with an experienced crew then who knows. We had one other sail on for a bit on a lure. I never saw one fish on the surface. There were plenty of fish in the green water though. I would say that it will hopefully take more than three or four to win.

I passed a dorado that was jumping on its side like a marlin. It was wider than any 200# marlin. It was easily fifty and probably more like 60#.

We had a dolphin time an eight foot high leap just beyond the bow. The splash drenched the entire bridge.

I might have the Windex, vinegar, toothpaste, or whatever ready as there were intense numbers of bluebells out there.
