I would like to nominate Pilo as captain of the week. This afternoon a few of us at the Cantina while having lunch decide to go fishing. The water was flat and news of a bite had made it's way back to us while eating our lunch at the bar. Five "reel men of genious" headead to the reef. Calvert had the ballyhoo, Pilo was at the ready and "Salsa Verde" was ready and full of gas. 22 minutes later lines were in and we were on the hunt. After boating two very nice Dorado (120+ 1 30+ pounds) we hooked up a smaller one in the 15 pound range. Now this is not a story about a big fish it is a story of a great captain, so let's not get hung up on the size. the fish ran right toward the boat like he wanted to join his fellows in the fish box when I say headed I mean came at us quicker than one over weight fisherman could reel. Once at the boat Pilo had gaff in hand and got it with his first swing while lifting this Dorado the handle slid off the gaff and the gaff was floating away. Now what I am about to tell you is why I am nominating him. Pilo took off his visor and leaped in after the gaff as if Calvert said everyone in the pool. A dive that would have made the best cliff divers in all of Mexico envious. The Russian judge gave him a 1.5. But this is not a story about a great diver it is a story about a great captain. We turned the baot around and placed ladder in it's slot. While Pilo was a drift 14 miles off the harbour afloat like a cork in the Sea of Cortez. When we finally got him in position to the back of the boat after swimming for what felt like hours because there was some laughter at this fine captains expense. He noticed that the ladder was now gone only to be seen floating away in the current. But this is not a story about Mark Spitz swimming against a big current it is a story of a great captain. Finally after sevarl more minutes of side splitting laughter this fine captain with gaff in one hand and ladder in the other was rejoined with his boat and 4 other "reel men of genious."

And this is why I am nominating Pilo as the Captain of the week.

Phots are being developed as we type.

:D

I've seen Pilo do stuff like that...there is not many people who are as fun to fish with as Pilo. If you go fishing with Him, you will catch fish, you will laugh, you'll get scremed at and you will hear some really funny fishy stories...and of course you'll get off the boat with a stroty of your own.

Firts dorado fishing day for me was with Pilo, back in my dark days when I worked at the bank, it was a lot of fun and that day he dove chasing a watch.
