My new Hobie Outback is great!  Much easier to get around and quite fast  compared to paddling.  My fishing is OK, but the Catching is slow.  The Dorado are still far away (in kayak distance) at about 10+ miles.  I have been trolling about 4-5 miles  per day and catching a few small (18-20") Barracuda.  Just waiting for the Dorado to come within range!  Have caught a few small bottom fish, but nothing exciting.
Went out in my neighbor's 26' boat and caught one Dorado at 16.5 miles.

Very nice! Wish I was down there too. I am waiting to hear the Dorado are close enough for the Yak and I will take a couple days off and head down. Glad to hear the new hobie is working out. Be careful with that drive system when you beach it in any surf conditions. Read about a few guys losing them and they arn't cheap! Be sure to post some pics, small fish or not it's always fun in the kayak! Have fun down there.

I caught a nice Sierra on the troll this morning.  I'm not good at taking pictures from the kayak, but here is a try.
I avoid challenging surf launch and recovery, but I still remove the Mirage drive and attach a safety line and raise the rudder just in case of a rollover.

Nice Sierra! It's about time they showed up. My friend said that dorado were caught within .5 and a mile yesterday between the points. I'm not sure if they just followed in the sargasso or are there for the bait. Nothing much happening down by Pilar but I'm sure that there are some fish along the rocks.

Kay and I are here until the end of May.  Just me, kayak and dog probably back in July and maybe August.
Went out about a mile past harbor entrance this morning but no fish.  Chased a few birds and had a fairly lumpy ride but no takers for what I was trolling!  Tomorrow is another day.  They will bite sometime.

nice fish!  anything caught from a kayak is equivalent to a fish 2-5x the size or more from a larger boat....

and in case you need a little more oomph with your Mirage drive:
