Team San Carlos made a respectable showing.  Our third day was a nightmare and we ended up nada nada.  On the fourth day we picked up two Marlin.  The final results were:

1) Team USA Florida

2) Team Croatia

3) Team Italy

.

.

.

23) Team San Carlos

At least we beat 41 really good teams.  We had more fun than is explainable here.  We traded shirts, hats and lies with most of the teams.  We made lifetime friends and invitations to fish the four corners of the world.  Absolutely the experience of a lifetime.  If you have any phobias with circle hooks, go to therapy and start treatment because the Cantina Cup is a tournament qualifier for 2009 World Championship.

This was such an amazing experience! Who ever wins the Cantina Cup this year MUST go. It's reason enough to enter the Cantina Cup.

I learned a lot in 5 days of fishing in Cabo. Top pros from around the world learned a lot too. We shared our tips and tricks over 47 beers at the swim up bar and free Corona tent.  Everything we caught was on circle hooks. I will be fishing with only circle hooks from here on out (live & dead bait at least). I get it now.

Kippy Joe and Bobby Bob from Biloxi, Mississippi taught me a few things on Social etiquette. I can't share them as Bart would kick me off the forum for good. The best quote on the way home came from a team out of Nantucket. A guy was talking to his wife and said "Honey, I'm not coming home. I'm going straight to rehab." Not sure if he was talking about his fishing addiction or dependency generated from 5 days of straight beer and tequila.

Tecate is being a little humble. After 4 days of fishing, he finished 9th in the world of 250+ anglers. If we could have put up his same numbers, we would have won. Nice work MW!

See you all in SC and happy Fishing! Matt

I have preached from the football field to the fishing cockpit...there is no I in Team.  It was a great honor to represent San Carlos and fish with the Blairs.  You guys are the best :dude:

Besides, where I finished in Cabo don't stack up a hill of beans to the greatest Mexican, American and Canadian fishermen I have ever known that battle everyday in San Carlos.  I look forward to a GREAT season!

GAME ON!

PS: Don't forget to ask Matt B. about his special award he was presented by the IGFA.  Be sure to have a beer for him.

Well said Fusco. A special thanks to you and Sea of Cortez Boat Club for sharing Lucky Ducks on Saturday. The practice run certainly helped as we had 10 + marlin around the boat, begging them to eat our scared little baits. Watching us trying to cast to them looked more like a beggining square dance class than any bait casting seminar....

Thanks all! MB
