Hello everyone! I have been to SC to dive before, but not to fish. Yet!
My wife and I are going to Hermosillo this weekend and I am planning on heading out to SC early Saturday morning. I have already called a couple companies and left some messages for boats. After reading a couple of threads here it sounds like the fishing is better in the afternoon. Is this true? I will have to be back in Hermosillo around 5pm so afternoon fishing is out for me.
Is it only bottom fishing this time of year? What can I look forward to catching? Can I take my fish back to Hermosillo? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
John

Read some of the posts on this forum. The water is warming some places and they're picking up some top-water action according to the reports. I think the good times to catch fish may depend more on the tides than time of day. A lot of guys like to go out early, including me, but that might just be personal preference. The fishing can be good all day. If you hire a guide or a charter, they will know what's going on, and how to make the best of a situation. If it's your first time fishing there, it will be money well spent.
No problem taking fish back to Hermollo if you've got a cooler. There's lots of places to get ice. If you have very much, you might want to fillet it or pay someone to do it for you.

Can you get DRY ICE in San Carlos or Guaymas? I haven't been there for about 35 years and will be coming down in the next 1-2 weeks with a private boat. Will target yellowtail & dorado.
Thanks - Craig

| No dry ice here or guaymas best to take fresh or vacuum pack and freeze also you can make ice very cold by adding sea salt. It will almost freeze fish

| I always bring a vacuum packer (buy good quality bags) with me when I go to the Sea of Cortez. I fill my cooler (a Coleman's 6 day model) with ice and salt (Morton's actually). The fillets are still frozen after a 12 hour drive back to Laughlin, NV.
