I have about a 2-3 inch hairline crack right where my bunk rests. I know welding aluminum is a tricky thing. They can do it here at Marine Mart or should I wait until I get home and have it done there? Anyone have any experience with Marine Marts aluminum welding?

I've tried jb weld and west marine brand of 5200 and it is not holding. I think due to the launching and recovery of the boat friction. As I said it is right on the bunk.

thanks

Maybe it's time to consider going back to carpeted bunks. More cushioning. That's an area with a great deal of stress. I dont think a weld will hold very long. It's flexing quite a bit there.
