A shark attack was reported in Solana Beach this morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. Fire and Lifeguard Rescue Services reported to Tide Beach where a male victim approximately 55-60 years old was transported to Fletcher Cove Park Lifegaurd station for emergency treatment where the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. The family has been contacted but the victim's name has not been released. A press conference is being held at Fletcher Cove Park at 9:00 a.m.
The victim was swimming with a group of swimmers from a local triathlon training group. The beach and waters in Solana Beach have been cleared and Sheriff's helicopters are scanning the beaches for the animal. Other beaches in the area have been contacted.
