Doug,

Two observations:

1. Terrafin yesterday at 5:45PM shows a spot of water that is 69 degrees from 175-185 at about 30 miles, surrounded by warmer water - did you see anything warmer on the way out/in? The warmer stuff was showing at 15-20 on a 160, or over the reef, 10-13 miles 265.

2. The Trouble with Temps! My Garmin GPS Sounder is on it's 4th temp sensor in 3 years - replaced the Xducer combo once, then wired for a separate temp sensor. When my unit seemed to be "off" from what others were seeing last year, I yelled and fought with Garmin technicians about the seeming inaccuracy, to which they answered: "These units are considered within spec when reading +/- 3 degrees F". I was incredulous, asking: "Why do they read in tenths, why have one that is useless, why do I expect my position to read accurately within +/- 0.0000002% of my actual position on the Earth?"...YOU CAN"T MAKE A THERMOMETER???? The arguments fell on deaf ears, offering only to send the fourth sensor. I guess temperature is not a big concern in India :X. All that being said, I put in a low cost Eagle Lowrance unit to run side-by-side. The difference between the two is 2-4 degrees - not even constant!

HOW DO THE REST OF YOU "calibrate" YOUR UNITS??????????

I did not see warmer temps on the way out, there were fluctuations but nothing warmer than the 68.3.

Darn wind. My friend said they had some nice sized dorado fillets in the market that they said were caught thirty miles out. Hopefully it will blow itself out for awhile this round. It's still spring.

At least some Tail were caught yesterday. The pangueros were unloading some large ones.

Off of the Mexfish board

This was easily the best week of fishing at La Paz of the season. The weather, water, and fish all seemed to finally come together.

With diminished winds, air temperatures in the balmy 80s and water temperatures reaching the mid-70s, fishing finally hit a high spot for our La Paz charter pangas.

Considering that it's still March, not only did we get our first marlin and sailfish in La Paz, but both Cerralvo and Espiritu Santo kicked out the best yellowtail bite of the season.

I just grab a cup of seawater and gargle with it to determine the temp. Who needs fancy schmancy electronics?

I bought an infared digital baby thermometer - I believe it has to be accurate to within 0.5 degrees? I am here now and will let you know how it compares. :D
