We are planning a trip to Tortuga in June. How far is the island to the nearest town on the Baja with a motel. Are there best places to fish around the island? Also what is the mileage from Marina Real and compass heading. Thanx

It's about 50 NM on 225 magnetic to Tortuga from Marina Real.  This is map measured off SST images on Terrafin.  Santa Rosalia is about 22 nm from Tortuga on 241 mag and there are hotels there.

Please do not rely on this information for navigation-it is for your planning purposes only.

There's also an RV park at San Lucas Cove right on the water if you want to camp out.  It has showers and electricity. (forgot to capitalize the C in Cove.)

In Santa Rosalia the man that ran the marina (this was 2002 things may have changed) has a plastic barrel (30 gallon), 2 wheel dolly, and siphon hose

he would get you gas for a tip

in mulege it comes in 5 gallon open bckets in the back of a cab

in loreto there is a guy (if you can find him-ask around) with barrels, s10 pickup, a garden hose and a hand pump - he smokes cigerattes the whole time he pumps gas so give him some distance - you need to pay this guy for his time -

Just came back from Santa Rosalia. There is a new state of the art marina with gas & diesel. Town is great with lodging and restaurants.
