I haven't been in the education business for a few years, but just a few years ago, the only nation we surpassed in math and science education was Liberia.. Other countries send their kids here merely for socialization, so they can learn how to deal with us and our wealth. Some don't even advance a year in their own education system for a year being over here because of the quality of US science and math education.
You think wrong, my friend. I have taught science in Mexico to students and science teachers alike. At least in the state of Tamaulipas*, calculus based physics is a part of the required ninth grade physical science curriculum.
As far as spelling and grammar go, perhaps you ought to run a spelling and grammar check on your own submissions.
*In case you are also geographically illiterate, Tamaulipas is a state on the East side of Mexico.

I always love this one. Ex educators still correcting grammar and spelling.
We are not your students. We are adults.
I always try to remember to use spell check so I will not get scolded or sent to the principles office.

" Being as your a man of Science I need not explain why non of those three are in the mix right now. Newclure hahahaha Power? How can we sell America on that when our President cannot even pronounce it."
I was not the one who brought it up. I don't want to scold anyone or send them to the principal's office. It's too late for that. I was merely pointing out a flaw in an argument. I'd rather be fishin'... or eating fried squid!

By the way, I heard a rumor before he ws elected, that George W. Bush was a "C" student. I guess that's what we want to run our country. It was a beautiful day to go fishing this morning, but my truck was in the shop. It must have been built by "C" students.
I think I may have a burr under my saddle.

| I won't be baited into an economic discussion. We owned stock in a sub-prime lending company that went belly-up right after the first of the year. Maybe my truck will be out of the shop today and it will be nice again tomorrow. I'd much rather be fishing than sitting in front of a computer creating hate and unrest.

This is how the my family and all of our friends prepare it, ( locals, Guaymas born and raised)
Simmer until tender, an hour or more, until fork tender in water that has a smidge of sugar in it. A table spoon to a pot full of water, my father in law says that it helps to tenderize it, don't know if it is true. It does not affect the flavor as far as I can tell.
If you simmer it past the tender point the texture becomes disagreeable to me, but there is a "sweet spot' in the cooking time where the texture becomes perfect, chewable but not mushy.
Then they either dice it and eat chilled in coctail with chile, tomato, onion, cucumber, cilantro and clamato, or simply with lemon and chile on saltines.
I have had it served ranchero also and it was great, slowly fry onion, chiles, tomatoes and when the veggies are soft and the tomatoes start breakng down toss in the diced squid and heat through, serve with corn tortillas and lemon. yum!
The exact same methods apply to octopus.
Another note, don't get caught with them on your boat, us forigeners are only allowed to take fin fish.

| Damon, what about the membranes on the outside and inside? Do they leave them on or cut them off? Thanks.

My father in law just made some last night and told me that the skin and membranes can be quite acidic...
skinned and well trimmed before cooking. Just the meat is simmered. the membrane can be akin to sinew in turf animals. Once the collegen is boiled out the elastin will never go soft.
Most people use just the "sabana" or sheet of body meat and use the heads for bait. Though I have heard the mouth area is similar to scallop when prepared right.
With ocotpus we skin it after cooking as it is much easier, just wash the slime off first and skim the scum often on the onset of simmering.
