yes, all over. how agile/willing to drive are you, what sort of tackle are you planning on using, what type/size of fish are you after? all this might affect where to go. much of the bay and surrounding area has at least decent bottom fishing from shore.
you might try running "shore fishing" as search term, as there have been several threads touching on this topic with people a lot more knowledgeable than me commenting.

| I've got action walkng along the beach with a fly rod looking for bait boils. I'm sure I could have done better with a spinning or casting outfit. There's never anyone to bother you or get in the way at daylight. (Nobody to laugh at the stupid gringo with his fly rod either.) Nobody seems to want to get up in the morning, and that's my favorite time of the day.

From shore your bass tackle will be ok, but a surf rod will help you with longer casts.

| Amost any of your bass lures will excite something in the ocean. I've done OK with silver Rattle Traps off the shore at Kino Bay. Spoons and plastic jigs work too. A friend of mine did OK once using a black plastic worm off the shore. Almost anything will trigger a bite at the right time.

Isn't the world of fishing lures wonderful? I used to make my own spoons out of pennies formed on an anvil with a ball-peen hammer. I carved my own lures out of almost anything I could find. Most of them caught fish if I used them enough.
I tied flies to make spending money when I was going to college. I found that the ones with brighter colors and odd configurations sold better than the ones that caught the most fish. I believe they make fishing lures to catch fishermen rather than fish. Economics 101

One more little item about shore fishing with bass tackle:
I learned by hook straightening experience that a lot of the hooks on bass lures aren't strong enough to fish in the ocean with. Before I throw a bass lure in the ocean, I check the hooks with needle nose pliers. If they bend pretty easy, I replace them with a good strong steel hook of the same size or maybe bigger if I don't think it will ruin the action of the lure. I've had good luck with Honor, Mustad, and Eagle Claw. A straightened hook is a crummy way to lose a fight.

| ...and yes, I do buy lures off the rack at WalMart if they will catch fish, no matter who makes 'em.

| Below is a lure that has been used by local shore fishermen around Puerto PeƱasco for a long time. The one in the photo has been in my tackle box for about ten years and I've never used it. It's simply a chrome piece of a car antenna. Apparently molten lead was poured into the antenna piece after the shank of a hook was inserted. I'm told this pattern has been a favorite of Rocky Point shore anglers for years. Attachment: RP 2a.jpg (Downloaded 110 times)
