I am beginning to wonder where all of this cold water is coming from. Maybe some oldtimers, meteorologists, or the Naked Weatherman (retired?) could chime in.
Is the cold water possibly getting funneled up the coast from La Nina? I thought the coldest I rememberred seeing last year was 58. I thought originally that it was just from the relentless winds, cold nights, and deeply hidden cold water of last year. The temperature disparity seems present going far south in areas along the coast, so I was wondering if the bigger picture in the Pacific wasn't the player, and not just the winds and cold weather through the Midriffs. Is this some of the coldest water on record?
If anything, there should be fantastic bait, sargasso, and current breaks all summer.
Maye the lagostino will drift in, or the fabled albacore of decades past.

| Don't feel so bad AcuDoc. I am in NW Ontario Canada and with the windchill yesterday it was -47. Wish I was in SC.

Well I guess it finally updated today and it looks like the warm blob is slowly pushing north ( water in the low sixties - normal). What was in the area a few days ago was 54, with spots down to 52 at 10:30. There have routinely been temps in the mid fifties, even in the afternoon. I think we'll see even more temperature disparity, fragile warm surface temperatures, and fog than last year.
We might not be swimming anytime too soon, but yes, it's better than up North.
