I am bringing my 19 foot Wellcraft with 115 hp. Johnson outbord motor over from Mulege and will need to take it to a good mechanic for service/ repair. To whom should I take it , and where are/is  they/ he located ? Also I will need to leave my 12 year old fishing partner here in a kennel while I'm gone. Any suggestions as to where I might leave him for a fews days?

Thank you amigos, Ron Orbas(Poppo)

I'd go to Marine Mart and see Danny. I'm a SC Rookie but have had great service there. I was told they did a good job and "they" were right.

Your one line attack is hardly reason for anyone to make a decision on one mechanic or another. If you don't have specific, verifiable facts that he did something wrong, what value is your opinion?

Luis has worked on my boat since I brought it to San Carlos and I have the utmost trust for the quality and integrity he offers. My experience in three years doing business with him is quite different than yours. He has performed all work done on my boat, including routine maintenance, installation of electronics and cruise-control, deck repair and panel replacement, and a complete R&R of engine and outdrive to repair an oil leak. The boat has been repaired properly and on time in every instance, and the prices are fair. I have entrusted him with a key to my bodega, and most work is performed while I am away, with the boat ready and waiting in the Marina if I request.

Now that you have warned us all, I will be sure to keep an eye on that devil!

I Agree completely with the post from Craig regarding Luis' boat shop. He has performed minor and major repairs over the last 2 years on my boat. I made a list of items to be repaired, received an estimate, and the repairs were completed on time.

The boat was ready upon my arrival to San Carlos. If adjustments were needed he would come to the marina and perform them.

He is now undertaking a large project with my new , old, boat. Wouldn't have anyone else work on it.

Speaking of Luis, I have a payment ready for him but we have been trading phone calls for the last week.  If anyone can pass on a message to him to call me that would be great!!

On Beltrones, the main road in SC, 1/2 mile east of Marina San Carlos. You can't miss it.

I'm sorry...but I have to add one more endorsement of Luis. He has worked steadily over the last 5 years on my "Margarita" boats and I have had excellent success with Luis. You can trust him, the work is excellent, and above all he speaks English well and there are NO communication problems.

I would not hesitate to endorse him for any boat/engine work, and I have observed that the two major charter services use him as well.

What repairs will you need done?  Please let us know what parts you may need.  We work with all  of the local mechanics.  It might be a good idea to stop in and see SAMMY, tell him what you need, and he will find the right mechanic for your specific needs.

I recomend Ed & Dorothy (622-226-06-88) for your old fishing pal!
